Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / WHAT DID PETER REALLY PREACH IN ACTS 10
« Last post by doug on February 24, 2026, 04:30:52 pm »
It is constantly said that in this passage Peter is most certainly and clearly preaching faith in the death and resurrection of Christ for our salvation.

[Acts 10:39 KJV] "And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:".............Does Peter say Jesus hanged on a tree and died for our sins as Paul does? Peter is just stating he was hanged on a tree; Peter says nothing to indicate we would have any salvific benefit from it.
[Acts 10:40 KJV] "Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;".............Did Peter say he was raised for our justification as Paul does? Peter did say what the resurrection accomplished...........[Acts 2:30 KJV] "Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;"............Peter preached Christ was raised to sit on David's throne in the earthly kingdom on earth promised Israel. Christ's resurrection gave Israel assurance that he was alive and would fulfill the promise of the Kingdom.
[Acts 10:43 KJV] "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins."............Did Peter preach we have forgiveness of sins by faith in his blood for the remission of sins as Paul does? Peter preached the remission (forgiveness) of sins through the NAME of Christ. Israel had to believe on the name of Jesus, they had to believe he was the Christ, the Son of God for eternal life..............[John 20:31 KJV] "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. "..

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / ANGELS CAN BE CALLED SAINTS
« Last post by doug on February 23, 2026, 04:49:42 pm »
[Deuteronomy 33:2 KJV] "And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand [went] a fiery law for them."..........In this passage the saints aren't believers, they are angels.......[Exodus 19:18 KJV] "And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly."
[Exodus 19:19 KJV] "And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice."
[Exodus 19:20 KJV] "And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses [up] to the top of the mount; and Moses went up."...........It was upon mount Sinai that the Lord descended upon it in fire with ten thousands of saints...........[Psalm 68:17 KJV] "The chariots of God [are] twenty thousand, [even] thousands of angels: the Lord [is] among them, [as in] Sinai, in the holy [place]."..........The Lord was with angels as in Sinai; in Sinai it is said he came with ten thousand saints.........[2 Thessalonians 1:7 KJV] "And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,"...........In this verse Paul says Jesus will be revealed with his angels...........[Jude 1:14 KJV] "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,".........In this verse Jude says the Lord comes with his saints. Paul says the Lord comes with angels, while Jude says the Lord comes with saints. All scripture considered, it must be concluded that angels are called saints.

Does God open our understanding of scripture?

Here are some scriptures to consider:
[John 2:16 KJV] "And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise."
[John 2:17 KJV] "And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.".......The disciples were not ignorant of the scriptures, "they remembered what was written".........[Luke 24:45 KJV] "Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,"........They knew scripture, but lacked understanding..........[Ephesians 1:16 KJV] "Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;"[Ephesians 1:17 KJV] "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:"[Ephesians 1:18 KJV] "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,"..........Paul was praying for the eyes of their understanding to be enlightened...........[Colossians 1:9 KJV] "For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;".........They prayed for their spiritual understanding.............[2 Timothy 2:7 KJV] "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things."..........Paul said the Lord would give understanding in all things.

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / I CAME ACROSS ANOTHER CORRUPT BIBLE VERSE
« Last post by doug on February 23, 2026, 02:15:09 pm »
Here is another example of the newer Bible translations not being reliable. By using these translations you will not have the full Word of God. These translations are one of causes of false beliefs and wrong doctrine.

Compare this verse in the KJV and the NIV.

The KJV
[Acts 2:30 KJV] "Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;"

The NIV
[Acts 2:30 NIV] "But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne."

The KJV is the correct translation of this verse; it says CHRIST WAS RAISED UP TO SIT ON THE THRONE (of David v29), not some erroneous descendant. Only the lexicon for the Textus Receptus contains the word Christ, which the NIV omits. With this translation (and others, so check yours) it wouldn't be known that Christ will one day sit on David's throne. If you use this translations or others, you have been deliberately robbed, these translators don't like Christ and love to rid him from scripture.

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO ENTER THE KINGDOM
« Last post by doug on February 23, 2026, 01:35:33 pm »
[John 3:5 KJV] "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."...........Israel had to be born again to enter the prophetic kingdom. The kingdom is the earthly kingdom, in which, Christ will reign on David's throne from Jerusalem for a thousand years.

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / WHAT DOES THE LAW TEACH US?
« Last post by doug on February 22, 2026, 04:48:31 pm »
Gentiles weren't given the Mosaic law, which included the ten commandments. Some of the believers were teaching the law.

[1 Timothy 1:6 KJV] "From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;"
[1 Timothy 1:7 KJV] "Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm."
[1 Timothy 1:8 KJV] "But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully;"..........The law wasn't to be used for a saint to be justified. A saint is to walk after the Spirit to fulfil the righteousness of the law...........[Romans 8:4 KJV] "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."
[1 Timothy 1:9 KJV] "Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,"
[1 Timothy 1:10 KJV] "For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;"...........The law was made for sinners to give them the knowledge of what sin is and their sinfulness...........[Romans 3:20 KJV] "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin."........ For a believer in sin the law gives the knowledge of their sin...........[Romans 7:7 KJV] "What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet."
[1 Timothy 1:11 KJV] "According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.".........The gospel taught that all have sinned.......... [Romans 3:9 KJV] "What then? are we better [than they]? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;".........the gospel cited the ten commandments to convict them of their sin..........[Romans 2:17 KJV] "Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,"
[Romans 2:21 KJV] "Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?"
[Romans 2:22 KJV] "Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?"
57
This is the most pernicious corruption of scripture I have seen. The immortality and deity of Christ had to be removed by the newer NIV Bible translators.

The KJV translates 1 Timothy this way:
[1 Timothy 6:14 KJV] "That thou keep [this] commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:"
[1 Timothy 6:15 KJV] "Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;"
[1 Timothy 6:16 KJV] "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen."

The NIV translates it this way:
[1 Timothy 6:14 NIV] "to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,"
[1 Timothy 6:15 NIV] "which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,"
[1 Timothy 6:16 NIV] "who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen."

Take note that The NIV inserts God twice in verse 15. God isn't found anywhere in the Textus Receptus text lexicon for verse 15. Why isn't God found in the manuscript the KJV translators used to translate verse 15? Why isn't God found in the lexicon for verse 15 in the KJV? A lexicon should have the word's or phrase found in the verse; An internet search found this "A specific word or phrase in a biblical passage should ideally be found in a lexicon, as a lexicon is a dictionary of ancient Hebrew and Greek words that provides detailed definitions and root"

Why God was inserted arbitrary could possibly be explained by an internet search; "The inclusion of God in the NIV translation of 1 Timothy 6:15 is a result of the translators' desire to maintain the original Greek text's emphasis on God's sovereignty and authority. The NIV translation emphasizes God's eternal nature and position as the ultimate ruler of the universe, which is consistent with the original Greek text. The KJV translation, on the other hand, does not include God in the verse, which may be a reflection of the translators' preference for a more literal interpretation of the Greek text."........This last sentence is pertinent; The KJV translation, on the other hand, does not include God in the verse, which may be a reflection of the translators' preference for a more literal interpretation of the Greek text."........the KJV translators had a preference for a more literal interpretation of the text, in other words, they translated only the words found in the text; God wasn't in the text!

Inserting God in 1 Timothy 6:15 has serious implications. The Identity of Jesus being the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords is negated. The immortality of our Lord Jesus is denied and stripped from him.

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / DOES JESUS HAVE IMMORTALITY OR NOT?
« Last post by doug on February 21, 2026, 10:41:02 pm »
Someone said 1 Timothy 6:14-16 is saying in verses 15 and 16 that both of these verses are about God the Father and not Christ, is this based on newer translations?

I will give the KJV first then the NIV to compare and comment on:

The KJV.
[1 Timothy 6:14 KJV] "That thou keep [this] commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:"..........This clearly states who he is talking about. He is talking about Christ Jesus
[1 Timothy 6:15 KJV] "Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;"..............Christ who is "the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords" will appear in his time.
[1 Timothy 6:16 KJV] "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen."...............WHO only is Christ. Christ has immortality.

The NIV.
[1 Timothy 6:14 NIV] "to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,"
[1 Timothy 6:15 NIV] "which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,"...........this translation says "which God" which from the text does not appear in the lexicon for the NIV. This is a blatant corruption of the Word; It doesn't take a scholar to recognize or expose this. "which God" is an unsubstantiated insertion into this verse.
Both the KJV and the NIV say He is king of Kings. The King of Kings can be identified through these verses:
[John 1:29 KJV] "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."..............John Identifies Jesus as the Lamb, which taketh away the sin of the world...................[Revelation 5:6 KJV] "And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth."
[Revelation 5:5 KJV] "And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof."
[Revelation 5:6 KJV] "And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth."
[Revelation 5:7 KJV] "And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.".............These verses all point to Christ Jesus as being the slain Lamb. If Jesus is the lamb, then it is He who is King of Kings, as affirmed by this next verse; the Lamb is called the King of Kings...........[Revelation 17:14 KJV] "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful.".......Jesus is called the King of Kings.

Jesus ruling the nations with a rod of iron identifies him as King of Kings:
[Revelation 12:5 KJV] "And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and [to] his throne."..........This man child was to rule the nations with a rod of iron..........[Revelation 19:15 KJV] "And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."
[Revelation 19:16 KJV] "And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."......................The man child seen in Revelation 12:5 is said to rule with a rod of iron; from these verses (Revelation 19:15-16), it can be seen that Jesus will rule the nations with a rod of iron. The one who rules with a rod of iron is called King of Kings, Jesus rules with a rod of iron, and therefore is King of Kings...........[Psalm 2:7 KJV] "I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee."
[Psalm 2:8 KJV] "Ask of me, and I shall give [thee] the heathen [for] thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession."
[Psalm 2:9 KJV] "Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."....................The begotten Son is the Lord Jesus Christ who will break the heathen nations with a rod of iron. It is the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who rules with a rod of iron and is King of Kings.
[1 Timothy 6:16 NIV] "who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.".................The King of Kings is the Lord Jesus Christ, and therefore is the one who has immortality.

This is the most pernicious corruption of scripture I have seen. The immortality and diety of Christ had to be removed by the newer Bible translators.

Study to Shew Thyself Approved Unto God. . . / WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS ABOUT THE SABBATH
« Last post by doug on February 21, 2026, 10:48:37 am »
If you say we must keep the sabbath then here is what scripture says about the sabbath:
It is a blessed hallowed day.........[Exodus 20:11 KJV] "For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."
It was a sign between God and Israel............[Exodus 31:13 KJV] "Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you."
It was a covenant...........[Exodus 31:16 KJV] "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual covenant."
Israel was to remember they were servants in Egypt.............[Deuteronomy 5:15 KJV] "And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and [that] the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day."
It is a holy assembly day............[Leviticus 23:3 KJV] "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings."

If the sabbath was violated by Israel it called for death.........[Exodus 31:14 KJV] "Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it [is] holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth [any] work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.".........If you think the covenant made with Israel is for you as well, then the sabbath would have to be fully obeyed. The covenant however, also demanded death if Israel violated the tenants of the sabbath.

What can be learned from this account about life after death?
[Luke 16:20 KJV] "And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,"
[Luke 16:22 KJV] "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;"
[Luke 16:23 KJV] "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."
[Luke 16:24 KJV] "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."
[Luke 16:25 KJV] "But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."
[Luke 16:26 KJV] "And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence."
[Luke 16:27 KJV] "Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:"
[Luke 16:28 KJV] "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."...........Lazarus and the rich man isn't a parable. It doesn't say it is; it is too specific in details and can be understood clearly, which isn't the case for parables. This isn't figurative either. This is a literal account that can give us insight as to what we will experience after death. I don't label this as a parable or dismiss it as being figurative, so therefore, I can learn about our life after death from the riches found in this account.

I will go thru the verses that give us some insight to life after death:
Verse 22 In this dispensation we don't go to Abraham's bosom; we go to heavenly places
Verse 23 We will have eyesight
Verse 24 We have tongues and can taste
Verse 25 We have memory of our lifetime
Verse 28 We are aware of our family
Verse 30 We have concern for our loved ones welfare

We can find a little more elsewhere in scripture:
[2 Corinthians 12:2 KJV] "I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.".........Paul couldn't tell if he was in or out of his body; was that because the third heaven where God dwells was a familiar environment to him?

[Revelation 6:9 KJV] "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:"
[Revelation 6:10 KJV] "And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?".........Our souls have voices that can speak.

Our resurrected bodies will be like Christ's........[Philippians 3:21 KJV] "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."............Here are some verses, from which, we can know what our resurrected bodies will be like.........[John 20:27 KJV] "Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it] into my side: and be not faithless, but believing."........Christ can speak. Christ has a body in the same form as it was before resurrection; his appearance was recognized by Thomas. He has a tangible body that could be touched.........[Luke 24:42 KJV] "And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb."
[Luke 24:43 KJV] "And he took [it], and did eat before them."..........Christ can eat. We will have the same ability in our resurrected bodies, so I hope we will have sushi!
