[COLOSSIANS 3:3-7 KJV] 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

We in the body of Christ are told to mortify, put to death, our fleshly members because our life is hid with Christ. We are to look not on our earthly life, but our life with Christ. We are to look to when we will appear in glory.

The following passages reflect this as well. The works of the flesh should be mortified because we are dead to that life, We are to know that we are dead to the flesh and have a new glory in Christ:
[1CORINTHIANS 6:9-11 KJV] 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
[GALATIONS 5:19-21 KJV] 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
[Mark 1:15 KJV]
"And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." [Matthew 4:17 KJV]............The prophetic Davidic kingdom was at hand, in which Christ will reign with believing Israel for a thousand years. The Lord Jesus was calling Israel to repentance, to believe the gospel of the kingdom.

"And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." [Luke 3:9 KJV]..............Unbelieving Israel is the tree that did not bear good fruit and was in danger of being cut down.
 
"He spake also this parable; A certain [man] had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none." [Luke 13:6 KJV]"Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?" [Luke 13:7 KJV]"And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung [it]:" [Luke 13:8 KJV]"And if it bear fruit, [well]: and if not, [then] after that thou shalt cut it down."[Luke 13:9 KJV]..............Only the believing remnant repented and brought forth fruit. The nation of Israel failed to repent. This parable was directed to unrepentant Israel.
Jesus would give unfruitful Israel a reprieve of one year to repent and bear fruit; If not they would be cut down. We see the reality reflected by parables here. We see that Israel was indeed granted further time to repent in the book of Acts.

"But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?"........What is the wrath to come?

[1Thesalonians 1:10 KJV]
"And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."........we are said to be delivered from "the wrath to come". Is this the same wrath John spoke of in Matthew 3:7?

[Romans 5:9 KJV]
"Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.".........Again we have assurance that we have been saved from wrath.

Wrath needs to be examined to know the extent of our deliverance from it.

[Isaiah 13:9 KJV]
"Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it."

[Isaiah 13:13 KJV]
"Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger."

[Revelations 6:16 KJV]
"And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:"[Rev 6:17 KJV]"For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

[Zephaniah 1:18 KJV]
"Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land."

[Romans 2:5 KJV]
"But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;"..........All of these verses speak of the day of the Lord. Without doubt, it can be safely said we will not endure wrath in the day pf the Lord. This is the wrath John the Baptist warned Israel of. The day of the Lord occurs at the end of the tribulation, which Israel will endure. Believing Israel will be preserved in the tribulation and at it's end, when Christ returns, they will enter their prophetic kingdom on earth.

We are spared facing wrath in the day of the Lord, but are we saved from the tribulation?

[2Thesalonians 2:1 KJV]
"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him," [2Th 2:2 KJV] "That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand."

[2Thesalonians 2:8 KJV] "And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:".........The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to destroy that Wicked Antichrist is the day of Christ; it is not our gathering together (the rapture). The rapture is only revealed to be for the body of Christ. When John declared escaping the "wrath to come" he couldn't have been speaking of the rapture because that was not revealed until Paul did so. The rapture is not the day of Christ; the day of Christ occurs at the same time as the day of the Lord and could be said to be detailing Christ's role in the day of the Lord.

The day of the Lord is not the only time his wrath is revealed. There are other passages to consider in the tribulation that speak of wrath. Since we are told we are saved from wrath, then we have to be saved from all instances of wrath in the tribulation.

"And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth." [Revelation 11:18 KJV]

"And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast [it] into the great winepress of the wrath of God." [Revelation 14:19 KJV]

"And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God." [Revelation 15:1 KJV]

"And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever." [Revelation 15:7 KJV]

"And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth." [Revelation 16:1 KJV].........All of these verses speak of wrath and are not directly happening at the day of the Lord. The wrath in these verses happen outside of the day of the Lord. If we are saved from wrath, then we are saved from the wrath of the tribulation as well. The tribulation is a time of God's wrath. Our gathering together, the rapture, occurs to deliver us from the wrath of the tribulation.

If you don't acknowledge what his will is in this dispensation you can't please him or be fruitful. We can only understand his will for us today thru Paul.........[EPHESIANS 5:17 KJV] 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord [is]...........It is thru obeying the commands given us by Paul that we express his will and please him........[1THESALONIANS 4:1 KJV] "Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort [you] by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, [so] ye would abound more and more." [1THESALONIANS 4:2 KJV] "For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus."[2THESSALONIANS 3:4 KJV] 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

If you follow Christ after the flesh by following the twelve in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, you are following his will for them. His will for them was to keep the law........[ROMANS 2:17-18 KJV] 17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, 18 And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; We aren't under the law.....[ROMANS 6:14 KJV] 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The parable of the sower taught by the Lord Jesus Christ will be examined in a new light. I will attempt to show how this parable pictures the threefold rejection of Israel to repent and receive their promised earthly kingdom, and upon their unbelief, the turn to the Gentiles. In the kingdom, Jesus will reign on David's throne from Jerusalem, believing Israel will reign with him for a thousand years, and the believing remnant of Israel will be a blessing to bring Gentiles to the Lord.

JESUS SPEAKS THE PARABLE TO THE MULTITUDE

"And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:"

"And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore."

THE EXPLANATION

Jesus was teaching about the kingdom of God, the prophetic earthy kingdom in which Christ will reign along with believing Israel. The word of the kingdom is the gospel of the kingdom.

THE KINGDOM OFFERED

The Lord Jesus preached that the kingdom was at hand. Israel as a nation had to repent and believe. The parable of the sower details how Israel failed to repent.

Israel had to repent and believe on Christ, become fruitful, and receive their kingdom. There is much emphasis on being righteous and fruitful to enter the kingdom.

THREE CALLS TO REPENTANCE AND THREE WARNINGS

The parable of the sower expressed unbelieving and unfruitful Israel's rejection of the kingdom three times; by the wayside, on the rock, and among thorns.

There are three instances when the nation of Israel rejected their kingdom offer as well as three times when Paul told them their rejection would result in offering salvation to the Gentiles instead.

THE FIRST FAILURE TO REPENT

 [Act 2:38 KJV]
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

THE SECOND FAILURE TO REPENT

[Acts 3:19 KJV]
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;"

THE THIRD FAILURE TO REPENT

[Acts 8:22 KJV]
"Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee."

PAUL'S FIRST WARNING

[Acts 13:46 KJV]
"Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles."
Here is the first pronunciation to Israel that that God would turn to the Gentiles.

[EPHESIANS 2:5-9 KJV] 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Faith isn't the gift as I heard some say, grace is the gift of God. Grace is not of ourselves.

The gift of God is his loving kindness to us in bestowing mercy to us.

Salvation unto eternal life is solely by his grace as seen in these scriptures:
[ROMANS 5:18 KJV] 18 Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life.

The above is what was said to me when we were discussing dispensationalism. Implied is that God's plan A to save Israel failed, which caught him off-guard, and necessitated scrambling to come up with plan B. Plan B was to save Gentiles instead.

Dispensationalism, that I know of, never proposed this. This idea is to be refuted no matter who would teach it.

[ACTS 2:23 KJV] 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:...........God has complete foreknowledge, and his purposes will always be fulfilled while allowing free will and justly holding mankind accountable for their actions.

[ROMANS 11:11-12 KJV] 11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but [rather] through their fall salvation [is come] unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the fall of them [be] the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?...........God knew, and determined, Israel would fall to bring salvation to the Gentiles

[ROMANS 11:30-32 KJV] 30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all......Gentiles were in unbelief as well as Israel, and thru Israel's unbelief the Gentiles obtained mercy. God's wisdom provided remedy for the unbelief of both Gentiles and Israel, and extend his mercy to all..........[ROMANS 11:33 KJV] 33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable [are] his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Israel will be saved.........[ROMANS 11:26 KJV] 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

[COLOSSIANS 2:12 KJV] 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

This baptism is not water baptism. It is the baptism by the Spirit.........[1CORINTHIANS 12:13 KJV] 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

That we would be dead and buried with Christ was not revealed before Paul. Not only were we dead and buried, but we also have been raised from the dead.

[COLOSSIANS 2:20 KJV] 20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,........we have been determined to be dead with Christ and to be raised to walk in newness of life.

[GALATIANS 2:20 KJV] 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me........That we have been crucified with Christ, and risen with him was not found outside of the revelations given to Paul.

It is only thru Paul that we could know this.

[Philippians 3:9 KJV] 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

The faith of Christ consists of the teaching that we are saved by Christ's faith. This may not mean much to you if you haven't been exposed to it, but I think it needs to be disputed.

Our faith doesn't save us, the object of our faith does. Jesus saves us. Our faith in Christ believes that Jesus is the sinless Son of God who could take our place in payment for our sins, and by his shed blood and death we have forgiveness of all our sin; that belief is accounted for our righteousness..........[Galatians 3:6 KJV] 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

I find no scripture that says Christ had faith.

They equate the faithfulness of God with the faith of Christ, which is unfounded. It is one thing to be faithful and another to have faith. You can't change the word of God to substantiate your view.

[Philippians 1:27 KJV] 27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;.........finally let's examine this verse. If you can say the faith of Christ means that Christ exhibited faith, then why does saying the faith of the gospel means something different? According to their interpretation "the faith of the gospel" means the gospel has faith, does it not? No, this verse is describing that faith is to be placed in the gospel, just as faith is to be placed in Christ; it identifies the object of our faith not that the object of our faith has faith of itself.

[MARK 16:14-16 KJV] 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

A few things to unpack here.

The gospel they were told to go into the world was the gospel of the kingdom. Jesus preached the kingdom was at hand............[MATTHEW 4:17 KJV] 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[MATTHEW 4:23 KJV] 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people........the kingdom was the prophetic Davidic kingdom on earth, in which believing Israel will reign with Christ for a thousand years. To enter the kingdom Israel had to believe this gospel and be water baptized.

The apostles didn't believe those who saw the risen Lord in spite of Jesus telling them he would rise again............[MATTHEW 20:18-19 KJV] 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify [him]: and the third day he shall rise again............Many say the apostles were preaching the cross for salvation. The preaching of the cross includes the resurrection. The twelve didn't understand any of what Christ told them of his death and resurrection............[LUKE 18:32-34 KJV] 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: 33 And they shall scourge [him], and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. 34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.............If they didn't understand his resurrection, and didn't believe the report of those who saw the risen Lord, how could they have preached the resurrection?

We need to take heed to the unbelief of the apostles who didn't believe those who saw the risen Lord. Paul also saw the risen Lord............[ACTS 23:11 KJV] 11 And the night following the Lord stoodby him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
[1CORINTHIANS 9:1 KJV] 1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?.............many don't believe Paul, who saw the risen Lord, just as the apostles didn't believe those who saw him.
