Daniel's 70th Week: Comments
« on: September 17, 2018, 05:19:44 pm »

Daniel 9:24-27... Daniel's 70th Week

Daniel 24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy

Daniel 9:24 is the scope/summary of the whole prophecy (Daniel 9: 25-27). Both parts (thy People (Jewish) and thy Holy City (Jerusalem)) do affect the Whole World

Has transgressions (sins) ended either in Jerusalem, Israel or the World YET?  (NO).

Has there been a reconciliation for the Iniquity,? (sins of the world): (YES), Jesus Died on the Cross.

Has Everlasting Righteousness been installed ? (NO)

Have we annointed the Most HOLY..?(NO),

"The Most Holy" is the Holy of Hollies in the Temple. Since neither of the next two temples have been built, The Holy of Hollies does not exist today.

NOTE: The CHURCH (BODY OF CHRIST) is not the recipient of the above scripture or any of the whole Prophecy.

Summary:

If I simply looked at Daniel 9:24 and at the world in general today, I would conclude that with the exception of "the  reconciliation for the iniquity" of the sins of the thy people and the world, NOT one of the prophecies spoken of so far have been fulfilled.

Daniel 9:25 "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troubledous times."

"The going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince". This has been proven historically to have happened. In fact from the commandment (4th commandment) unto the Messiah the Prince was 173,800 days. The amount of time to the exact day, Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on that donkey.

"......shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: " From Historical records it took around 49 years to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple. That seven weeks with another sixty-two weeks brings us to 69 weeks or the 173,800 days. The Commandment was given on March 14th 445 B.C. and ended 173,800 days later on Palm Sunday, April 6, 32 AD.

"the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times." The commandment was given three times prior to rebuild the Temple. Because of the warring hordes around Jerusalem at this time, it proved impossible to rebuild the temple because of attacks on the workers. The fourth commandment, let them rebuild the walls and streets, which allowed to finish the rebuilding process in relative safety.

Summary:

Up to this time, we are speaking about Jerusalem both in 445-396 BC and 32 AD.

Daniel 9:26"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined."

"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:"
This scripture is speaking about the remaining sixty-two weeks after the seven weeks needed to rebuild Jerusalem and the Temple, Jesus is Cut off or Killed. Historically, this cannot be denied. Passover, April 10, 32AD (four days after His arrival), Jesus Christ was placed on the Cross and Died upon hill HE MADE!

NOTE: By reading all scripture, Literally, Historically and Grammatically, we  can discern what the scripture actually states.

"but not for himself: "shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;"NOTICE, the ":" after Himself. Grammatically, this makes the first sentence a meaning unto itself. The next sentence does not have anything to do with the first sentence.

"and the people of the prince that shall come " Here we see 'A' Prince that shall come. This is NOT speaking of Jesus Christ. This is speaking of a Prince (son of a Ruler) who destroys Jerusalem and the Temple.

Mat 24:2,,Jesus tells the four apostles, "........There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down."

Historically speaking, Titus Vespasian and His Father (Titus Flavius Vespasian) had encircled Jerusalem in 67-68AD. Caesar Nero in Rome had died in 66 AD and there were three to four successors that were killed immediately after they took control. General, Flavious Vespasian was recalled to Rome and became Caesar. He had left His son, Titus as General in charge of the Army until his return. Upon the news, of His fathers enthronement, Titus left Jerusalem for Rome and did not return for 18 months. The Army that encircled Jerusalem was in effect placed on "time-out" status.

The Prophecy that Jesus told the followers in the temple, Luke 21:20.."And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh."
Notice that the Desolation is not the  worst type of Desolation (the AOD). This speaks of the total destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.

"and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;"

Over one Million Jews are said to have died because of the war, pestilence, starvation, etc. during 70 AD.  Because of the Prophecy Jesus gave those in the temple in 32 AD, those Christians remembered and fled Jerusalem while Titus was in Rome. It is reported that NO Christians died during this time of desolation.

Daniel 9: 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: " Grammatically,  "and he"
refers to the  Antecedent “the Prince”
in the previous scripture. Also, there is a double hit here.

The People of the Prince is “Titus” in 70AD--”shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined." We know that Jerusalem and the Temple was destroyed during this time.

The second hit is“The Prince “that shall come” is the Antecedent to Daniel 9:27. “And he shall confirm (enforce)the covenant with MANY
(Israel) for ONE WEEK” (seven Years)

Who is the other party to this covenant. It certainly is not GOD because He is still in Heaven. Isaiah 28:14-16 tells the Who, what and why.

Isaiah 28:14-18..”14. Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. “ Tells us who the Israeli (many) people are!

]Isaiah 28:15. “Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: “
Here we see WHO the other party is. Remember them from Rev chapter 6?. We find that armies (overflowing Scourge) of the enemy will not enter Jerusalem or the temple during this time period which happens to be the first half of Daniel’s seven years.

Isaiah 28:16”Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. “ . Here we see God (the Father) telling these leaders of Israel that He has already laid a stone for a foundation (Jesus Christ) in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 28:17”Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. “ Here is the idiom of Waters that shall overflow the Hiding place. The Scourge that is awaiting outside of Jerusalem limits is the Horde, overflow that will sweep these unbelievers way.

Isaiah 28:18.”And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. “
As one can see, all of this will happen”..: and in the midst of the week”, in the middle of the 7 years (midst of the week or 3.5 years). By this overflowing of the scrourge, any activities in Jerusalem and the Temple by the Jewish leaders or people will be null and void for HE (Satan), “ he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, The sacrifices and worship to GOD will of course be sweep away as well.

Mat 24:15..”When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) “ Jesus was telling the four Apostles present (1) who really wrote Daniel and (2) the AOD had already happened once and (3) that it would happen again.. Also, there is a special message for everyone who reads it. (Do Not stop until you understand it.)

Daniel 9:27..“…...and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate," and it would last until the total consumption of Israel and Jerusalem. Of course the Desolate (the poor people caught in the middle of the war will it pour down on.) “…..even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

Mat 24:16..”Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: “
Jesus tells the four apostles, that those who are believers should flee all of the land (not just Jerusalem but Judea) into the Mountains (at Petra). In Revelation 12 we see Satan’s attempt to overcome those who are fleeing. We also see God’s response to saving of the Remnant of Israel by force in Revelation 12

In contrast, the 70 AD war, the Armies of Rome had surrounded Jerusalem prior to the beginning of the siege. There was no Abomination of Desolate of the Temple as it was burnt to the Ground. This caused the Roman soldiers to move every rock (foundation) to remove every bit of the gold that melted down through the rocks during the fire.

The Abomination of Desolate Which Daniel speaks of happened in 167 BC. When Antiochus IV Epiphanes burned pigs on the altar, spreading their blood throughout the temple and finally erecting a statue of Zeus in the Holy of Holies. It took 3 ½ years for the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid  empire and to remove Greece from the area. The temple was cleaned, all the utensils destroyed and rebuilt, rededicated on Hanukkah (the Feast of Lights). Take Note: this Holiday is not part of Moses Feast Days. It is separate.

The ‘Abomination of Desolation’ which Jesus alluded to has not happened yet. The Man of Sin ( a man with powers given to him by Satan, Satan powers given to him by GOD) will DIE at the midst of the 70th week (3 ½ years) and will be resurrected by Satan (taking over His Body) or Son of Perdition as seen in;

2 Thes 2-3..”Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed,(then) the son of perdition; “

The ‘son of perdition’ will be the one to stand in the Holy of Holies and pronounce Himself to be GOD! Again, there is a contrast between the first AoD and the second.

God has two plans. (1) The Plan for the Gentiles which is carried out by Jesus and His Church (body of Christ). Yes, there will be many Jews within this assembly which in the Bible is always spoken of as a single entity. We are the Bride (a wedding patterned after the ancient Jewish Wedding Ritual) and Jesus is the Bride Groom. As countless Jewish brides have done in ancient times, so we await His Arrival in the clouds where only those in the Church can/will see Him.

The Book of Revelation chapter 4 through 17 unveils God’s plan for the Jewish and Gentile Peoples alike. 95% of the churches today throw away these chapters of Revelation and all chapters of the OT starting from Gen 15 to the NT or symbolize GOD’s WORD to fit their life styles or worldview. To do this, they must include the Jewish people in the Church or remove them altogether (Satan’s plan)

Revelation gives us the “end times” of the world as we know it. It shows us what is fixing to happen to all the EarthDwellers (Jew and Gentile unbelievers alike).

Daniels 70th week was designed and prophesied in Zek 13:9, to force a remnant of Israel (one third) to call upon the Name of GOD. It will also bring a conclusion, to all unbelievers in the world and begin a period known today as the Millennium. A 1000 years of PEACE, TRANQUILITY ruled by Jesus Christ sitting on David’s Throne which so long ago was prophesied by Gabriel to Mary.

Jesus Christ will rule from David’s throne (Luke 1:26-33)..Luke 1:33..”He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: “

Zek 13:9.”And I will bring the third part through the fire,….....(The Remnant of Israel will be only a third part of those who started Daniel’s 70th week. )“……. and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried:……..” ( will bring them through the Great Tribulation (last 3 ½ years of Daniel’s 70th week),

Mat 24:21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. “ For Jesus named the last half of Daniel’s 70th week and told everyone what to expect

Zek 13:9..”………..they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. “

These “end time” prophecies have not happened yet as we await the removal of the Bride (The Body of Christ) from this earth. Yet, as all the fulfilled prophecies have been 100% true in the past, so shall all the remaining prophecies become, regardless of how Mankind restructures, removes, replaces or ignores them.

God tells us there will be a Millennium where Jesus Christ will rule with a fist of iron and the very ‘Remnant of Israel’ so many today HATE, will rule over all the nations with Him in Jerusalem.

GOD’s Holy City.

I believe Him

DO YOU?

Hey Blade,
thanks for being more informed about the 1st century than most.

You got into trouble later:

(2) the AOD had already happened once
this is grammatical nonsense.  he's telling them it would happen to them, and it was a signal to them to get out.

God does not have 2 plans going between which adepts in the 20th century are supposedly the new super Christians and 'get it' which no one before ever did.

The 'son of perdition' of Dan 8-9 was the leader of the rebellion against the occupying forces.  It is called the 'rebellion that desolates' and that phrase becomes 'the abomination that desolates' when used next.  The Jews had tried 'holy rebellion' by the time Christ came (the Maccabees), and they were NOT supposed to try it again.  Instead, they were supposed to be missionaries of the Gospel to the whole world.

Mt24A (to v29) is concerning 1st century Judea.  It is direct and its details show this.  After it was over, the expectation was that the final judgement of all mankind would take place, so the 1st generation of believers were serious about getting as spread as they could.  But there was an allowance.  God might not end the world, as we know from some parables and from Peter.  And from 'only the Father knows.'

This allowance contingency is where ALL eschatology trips and thinks it is unquestionably correct while it is all a clunky, noisy parade of mistakes and exceptions.

Scripter.. in 167 BC, Seleucid ruler Antiochus IV ("Epiphanes"), ordered swine to be offered in every village around Jerusalem. He also erected an Idol of Zeus in the Holy of Holies. This was the First Abomination of Desolate.

The second has not occurred yet. I can with certainty tell you and all others, the AOD did not happen in 70 AD nor has it happened since.

1Mind1Spirit..It would be better if you told me what you are getting out of that video as it probably has different denotations for me.

I would be easy to speak about it.

Blade,
I don't know how you can miss this, but please turn your brain on.

How does Jesus in 32 BC "warn" Israel about an AofD that happened in 167 BC and not mention there are two (no one does)?

Stop being so dominated by headlines that you won't do your historical work.

Scripter/Interplanner....you are funny but very very historically incorrect. You are so far out there , there is not need to discuss this with you.

A person (you) should explain how one are two, and how 32 AD is before 167 BC.  That's all.

Either Christ was dialed into the horrible situation that was going to happen in that generation (Lk 23:28) or he is a flowery clown who likes to sound serious but is actually talking about things X000 years in the future.  In that "you" and "be on your guard" and "get out of the city" are all meaningless in their direct sense.

Well,,,Surely you know the difference in AD and BC... Even Wikipedia knows that?

Luke 23:28.. "But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children."

This verse tells us who Jesus was speaking to.. The Jewish people in the Temple. He was telling them what was going to happen in the near future.

By the way this happened in 70 AD 38 years after He predicted it. This is the same amount of time Israel spent in the Wilderness after getting out of Bondage from Egypt.

The Christians that believed in Jesus took His WORD to heart. They left when the city was surrounded. Because of (I believe) divine intervention, the Roman army surrounded Jerusalem for around 18 months in a sort of "time out' mode.

It is said that NO (0) Christians were killed during this time yet over 1 million Jewish people died from direct attack on themselves, Pestilence (includes Biological agents), Starvation/Famine (mothers ate their own children).  These are known as Desolates of War.

I wish I could say something that would get you to see it before it is too late. Alas, I see no light in sight.

Oh, and the OT, you know that other part of the Bible, tells us that the first AOD did happen in 167 BC. The Maccabee Revolt removed the Greek armies after 3 years of fighting. They destroyed all utensils and remade them. They cleaned the temple. They rededicated it in 170 BC and that Re-dedication is know as Hanukkah.

If you are talking about what matters to the audience of Mt 24, there is only 1 AofD.  It was the rebellion that desolated the country.  You have all the details on that, I don't know where we disagree.  The abomination or man of sin was not something X000 years in the future which would hardly be relevant to the people listening.

But Jesus in Mt 24 would not be warning about an event that took place 200 years earlier than the audience before him, would he?  That's what it sounds like you are saying.

It is obvious you do not know your Bible nor do you know anything about biblical history

Yet, you care not to try and find the truth.

70 Weeks of Daniel Part 1

This is an audio series of Bro. Barry Hampton teaching on the 70 weeks of Daniel! I'm just starting this study and may do a separate thread unless it's ok with Blade to post them here.

Blade,
you'll have to do better than your infantile "if you don't agree with me, you don't know anything."  And then there's the great super-insult:  I don't care.  lol.

Try again.

Why do you believe that we are suddenly supposed to see Jesus as someone who speaks about things X000 in the future right after he mentioned the same things with all seriousness about that generation in the previous chapter?

Part of my master's degree was Luke-Acts and the war (rebellion).  The topic of the rebellion that desolates, and the AofD, etc, Dan 9, etc., is unavoidable.  Do you know what rabbis and priests said about the R/A of desolation at the time?

Do you still want to find out how little you know or will you continue?
