What I and some others (though they seem few and far between) is that Genesis is a polemic, not a scientific treatise.  As such it is incredibly rich in biblical truths that deserve to be explored in more depth but instead, too many people get hung up on trying to draw out of it a contradiction for the world view of how life began.

The Bible is literal unless we can see clearly that it is not. Always literal unless it's not.

that was kind of my point, it is written like a polemic, not a scientific treatise...to read it literally means we take that into account.

It seems the literal reading of the Bible is being assaulted from every side. One's worldview controls as with most everything how one interprets the Bible.

Do you really--really believe in GOD/Jesus///If you truly believe in His Gospel, then He can do anything including the authorship of everyword in the Bible.
If you truly believe, then those words of Jesus cannot be removed, changed, added, etc. Yet, the world specifically America will declare war in the coming days/weeks against the Christian.

Polemic Theology is s small relative ineffective theology. Reading the Bible Literally, Historically and Grammatically bring the words of the Bible together without controversy and/ or contradictions.

So...that would mean that you read parables as real life situations rather than analogies that express a point...and what about poems, those are factual, literal explanations of things as well...how sad that you don't even take Jesus at his word when He says something is a parable that it is a parable...I'm praying for you

one minute you chatise me for reading parables as real life situations and the next that I don't take Jesus at His word when He says a parable is a parable.

As far as analogies go, there are some 200 different grammatically structures in the Bible which is why I have always said that to read the Bible Literally, Historically and grammatically is the only way to go.

Thank you for your thoughts.

which is exactly why I said that Gen. reads/is structured as a polemic and you challenged that to say we have to read it literally...what would reading a polemic literally mean?

Polemic:;;;;a strong verbal or written attack on someone or something.  Is this how you see GOD. He is attacking someone or something?

Believe you have the wrong word.

Blessing, my friend

So you do not believe that God is attacking the notion that many have that it is okay to worship the creation rather than the creator?  Remember, your own definition says someone or SOMETHING...

Hi Lori....Got sa little extra time before another round of ice. First let me nail it down to at least what chapter you are talking about and verses if necessary/.

Over all, I do not believe God is attacking the worship of His creation for by seeing , admiring His creation(s) one cannot deny there is a GOD, thereby worshiping HIM.
