Yes, I know what happens to a person when they die. My husband went into cardiac arrest and for thirty minutes he had no heart beat and very little to none brain activity and he wasn't getting enough oxygen to his brain. He had a NDE and told me where he went and what happened to him there.

When a person dies their spirit returns to God who gave it. There are different meanings to the word spirit depending on the context as in this example with Jesus.
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into your hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the spirit.
Mark 15:37 But Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last. He breathed his last breath of life.

Compare Gen. 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Note that it says that man became a living soul not that his soul was a separate thing but that he was a living soul. The breath of life from God made him a living soul.
Also compare Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Eccl. 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Jesus' spirit or breath of life returned to God who gave it.

After death a person is no longer a living soul because he no longer has the breath of life.
I believe that after death a person is then spirit but this is another meaning for the word spirit in a different context. In this context, spirit doesn't mean the breath of life because in spirit a person doesn't need the breath of life since they are no longer in the flesh and physical.

I can think of at least two different religions that teach that when a person dies they live on a planet. Those religions are Mormon and Scientology. Even JWs used to teach that God lived on a planet but later on they stopped teaching that. So this is nothing new that I haven't heard before.
 
Some people have already found out what happens at death and where they go. My husband was one of those people among many others, and he didn't mention anything about being on a planet.
