THE GOSPEL PREACHED IN THE WILDERNESS
« on: May 05, 2019, 04:42:59 pm »
Hebrews 3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Israel, in the wilderness, was promised a rest. Israel, because of unbelief, did not enter into that rest.

Numbers 14:22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

14:23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

Israel murmured, and rebelled against the Lord. Israel, in unbelief, did not obey the Lord in regard to entering the land as commanded; and because of this, they fell in the wilderness.

4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Unto the Hebews, a promise remained for rest; if they believed.

Above we read that the gospel was preached "unto us", as well as "unto them".

What gospel was preached to Israel in the wilderness?

Deuteronomy 1:8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

Above, is the gospel preached to Israel in the wilderness. Israel was to possess the promised land.

The Hebews in Hebrews 3:8 were not to harden theirs hearts, in departing from God, as they did in the wilderness.

Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

In the passage above, the gospel preached to the present Hebrews is conveyed.  These Hebrews can enter into the promised rest if they obey their gospel. Their gospel is that they can enter the remaining promised rest, through belief.

The gospel of entering into God's rest through belief in the book of Hebrews is not the same gospel given to Israel in the wilderness to possess the land. It can clearly be seen that there is more than one gospel in the Bible.

Unfaith in what aspect of GOD or HIS plan for them?

Please consider:
Gen 15: 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet fullSince we know the hatred GOD has for the merest hint of evil, such that it is even said HE cannot look upon it, have you considered:  IF the iniquity of the Amorites is full enough for judgment, WHO is it not full enough for?

Genesis 15:16 But in the fourth generation they (the Israelites) shall come hither (to the Promised Land) again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
Now, the thing that I'd like you to note is that Israel's return to the Promised Land had to be postponed. My first question is: WHY did it have to be postponed? Was it because the iniquity of the Amorites was not yet full enough for their judgement? Okay, then my second question is who wasn't it full enough for?

It should be obvious to anyone who knows anything about the totally defiling nature of just one sin, that the Amorites were full enough in GOD's sight already. So then, just who still looked on their iniquity as not being full yet, that is, as not being bad enough to warrant this judgement, that had to take place before Israel's return?

According to pre-conception existence theology, there was a four generation postponement of GOD's judgement because  the Amorites were not yet bad enough in the eyes of the Israelites for the Israelites to be willing to judge them according to the judgement decreed by GOD.

Therefore, the Israelites  had to either stay enslaved in Egypt or wandering in the wilderness until they became willing to judge them, that is, until the Israelites became holy (obedient) enough to see them all judged: men, women and children. (See Joshua 6:21; 8:26-27; 10:40)

Now, this judgement against the Amorites is typical of the final judgement that has to take place before we can inherit the antitypical Promised Land, that is, before GOD's people can enter into the truest millennium.

According to pre-conception existence theology, this antitypical judgement has also been postponed once again, because the elect do not yet look on the iniquity of HIS enemies as being bad enough to warrant HIS eternal judgement and wrath on them.

Therefore, we too have had to wander in the wilderness after we've been converted, that is, outside of the promised land, still waiting until we become holy enough to have all of GOD's enemies (men, women and children, even the ones that look like little wee babies!) killed, that is, judged and forever exiled to hell.

The gospel of entering into God's rest through belief in the book of Hebrews is not the same gospel given to Israel in the wilderness to possess the land. It can clearly be seen that there is more than one gospel in the Bible.
I do not see that the belief must be in the Book of Hebrews and not in the original gospel given to everyone under heaven, ie, in all creation.

Please consider:
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God 19 And this is the condemnation, that the Light has been shown to the world (that is, to Adam and his children) but some men preferred darkness to Him, that is, disbelief to belief, disobedience to obedience. The men he is talking about all refused to believe in the Son. Their sin was not a sin of omission...they had received the self-attesting revelation of the Light, that is, of the Son, but rejected it as the lies of a false god.

Second, that every unbelieving man in history is included in this rebellious group, that is, that the revelation is universal, is proven by John 1:9 the true Light, which lighteth EVERYman. From this verse, we can see that every person on Earth has received or seen the Light, that is, Jesus, even those who lived before He came and the gospel was proclaimed in this world, no matter when they were born, nor long they lived nor what culture they were born into...!

Colossians 1:23...if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Here is how the English Standard Version translates that verse:
Colossians 1:23 (ESV) If indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Strong's:
Col 1:23   If 1489 ye continue 1961 in the faith 4102 grounded 2311 and 2532 settled 1476, and 2532 [be] not 3361 moved away 3334 from 575 the hope 1680 of the gospel 2098, which 3739 ye have heard 191 , [and] which 3588 was preached 2784 to 1722 every 3956creature 2937which is under 5259 heaven 3772; whereof 3739 I 1473 Paul 3972 am made 1096 a minister 1249;

was preached: Strong's G2784: κηρυχθέντος (kērychthentos) Verb - Aorist tense:  to publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done; has been proclaimed;

creature: Strong's G2937: ktisis, creature, creation:
1) the act of founding, establishing, building etc
a) the act of creating, creation
b) creation i.e. thing created
1) of individual things, beings, a creature, a creation
a) anything created

If the proclamation was finished to every creature under heaven, ie ever created, then it leaves no room to consider that new creatures are being created in the present. If we accept new people are created on earth then we must consider that they were not recipients of this universal proclamation of the gospel which would contradict Jn 1:9 and 3:19 plus others, most notably Rom 1:20.

Therefore my contention of every creature under heaven (past, present and future) has already heard the gospel, is supported by the words of Col 1:23 in light of Jn 3:18-19.

Hello
As I said in the post:
"The gospel of entering into God's rest through belief in the book of Hebrews is not the same gospel given to Israel in the wilderness to possess the land. It can clearly be seen that there is more than one gospel in the Bible."

I was showing there is more than one gospel.

The gospel the Hebrews had to believe was the same as in the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They had to believe in the name of Jesus, their Messiah, the Son of God and keep the commandments to enter into the coming kingdom and their rest.
They had to believe in the better priesthood, the better covenant and their better High Priest Jesus.

This is all for Hebrews undergoing persecution in the past and future tribulation and not the church today in this dispensation
