ROMANS 8 WALK IN THE SPIRIT

Being saved by grace does not mean we should feel free to sin (Romans 6:1).

 We are dead to sin (Romans 6:2). We need to know we were buried with him into death by the baptism of the Spirit, not water (Romans 6:4). Being raised up with him we should walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). We should not serve sin (Romans 6:6) because we have been freed from sin (Romans 6:7). We are to reckon this as so (Romans 6:11). We can chose not to yeild to sin because we are not under the law but grace (Romans 6:14).

 The law can not help us live unto God (Romans 7:6).

 We should walk in the Spirit (Romans 8:1) because in the flesh (our natural sin nature) we can not please God (Romans 8:8). We need to know we are the children of God by faith (Romans 8:16) and joint heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17) and by knowing who we are to live accordingly.

 When, not if, we sin we need to know we are justified (Romans 8:33) and forgiven by our redemption in Christ (Colossians 1:14) and nothing can separate us from his love (Romans 8:39).

 We walk after the spirit by believing his word. We find how to live in the epistles of Paul and chose to live according to his word.

If we are in the Spirit (and all of us who have trusted the Lord believing 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 as the means of our salvation are), we are not in the flesh.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Good Evening, Phebe:..Yes and No. for those who truly believe and have received Salvation and the Holy SPirit, the journey of sanctification begins.

While it is true, our spirit lives in the spiritual church (body of Christ) and is sin free, we also live on this earth in fleshly sin corrupted bodies and sin daily.

Like Paul, we all struggle each day with sin and the want to walk in the path to righteousness. To deny fleshly sins until we shed this body is to deny ourselves salvation and  an eternal life.

That we that are in Christ are in the Spirit is true positionaly. Practically in our living  unto the Lord we can chose whether we walk in the Spirit and please God or walk in the flesh and are condemned  ( this is not saying we lose salvation however).

I will have to disagree. There is no such animal of a saved carnal Christian. You either are saved or your are not. On one side you walk with the Holy Spirit and have repented (turned away) of your sins.  For all these preachers telling us they can no longer be Christians...They never were Christians.
