Luke 13:6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

 13:7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

 13:8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

 13:9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

 Jesus was offering Israel the prophetic Davidic kingdom on earth during his three year earthly ministry. For three years Jesus was looking for the fruit of repentance.

 Jesus, after his resurrection, gave Israel one more year to repent and believe the gospel of the kingdom, and receive him as their Messiah and the Son of God.

I found disagreement as to the time from Acts 2 to Acts 7 when Stephan was stoned....some say 1 year but others don't

I also thought more and the verse says leave it alone this year which does not specify that it was the following year or for one year
