IMO its not one dimensional. You've got a liberal-conservative axis but you've also got a libertarian-statist axis. The liberal-conservative axis is ethically agnostic, but the libertarian-statist axis has lawful conduct against fraudulent conduct (i.e involving corporate fictions). The left-right axis also seems to have an ethical nature (i.e. left-bad, right-good), but it also seems to have more of an association with the liberal-conservative axis than with the libertarian-statist axis.

Free speech includes the ability to speak falsely or fraudulently, so it's no surprise that free speech is big with statist societies eg the United States of America.
