Was thinking
« on: December 23, 2019, 12:16:59 am »
As I was reading and writing, mostly for fun, a thought struck me.  I set it forth here for your pleasures.  Technically I can not prove I exist in this time and space to anyone who does not exist at the same time and space.  To extrapolate that further, if I can not prove my existence beyond this moment, then it is impossible to prove God or any deity to exit or not exist.   Thus I believe that is what mankind had to invent the concept of hope and faith.

Interesting. I don't think man invented hope and faith but we naturally hope for good things and we trust that we will receive what is hoped for. We can prove we exist because our conscience bears witness to ourselves.
Hearing, believing and trusting the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross; His death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins and REPENTING, seals us with that Holy Spirit of Promise - EPHESIANS 1:10-14 KJV - The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. 2 Peter 3:9 KJV - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV - Ephesians 1:10-14 KJV - Romans 10:9-10 KJV - Romans 10:13 - Romans 10:17 - Ephesians 1:7 KJV - Colossians 1:14 KJV -

There are things that I don't fully understand but I know that it's real. There are things that exist that I can't see with my eyes or touch but I know it exists.

All the more so when it comes to believing that God exists. I can't remember a time when I didn't believe that God exists. Even as a toddler I knew this. I had no clue what faith or hope was at that time, what those words meant. I didn't know how to read the bible so I didn't know the scriptures. I knew nothing about doctrines. My parents didn't talk to me about God. All I can say is that God made himself known to me in a powerful way. I can't put into words how he did that. I don't know how to describe it. It is beyond words. I will say this. It had a lot to do with listening and observing.

As for proof, I don't need proof because it's already been proven to me.

I think my problem was I have been reading Kant lately to find a very specific part of one of his philosophical theory's and he can make you question everything.   I love how positive both of the replies are about existing and hope.

That said, are we part of the I think therefore I am school of thought or the I only exist because others perceive my existence school of thought.

Are those the only two choices? :)

Now see I like that approach.  It is more in line with how my mother raised me that knowledge is the ultimate power as it is proof you have lived, are living and will live.  As a teen I thought she was spouting nonsense.  Now in my older age, I understand what she meant.

NO, faith in Jesus Christ is the Ulitmate power.

Acts 17:11.."These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

See my post in "More thinking, but with Son" where I explain what I meant by that.
