In the distance a dog barks
« on: June 22, 2019, 03:17:21 pm »

I AM LOST BETWEEN THE CHORDS
the mandolin was playin'
paused inside the melancholy
of the cello strain
I'm stood between the willow
and the Tanner's brook
I never had a reason
to take a backward look

In the distance a dog barks
there must be a reason
people will not listen
until it is the season
I blew upon a dandelion
his seed flew into the air
heaven's wind will carry them
to light when? who knows where?

My words will take wings
foreign lands to travel
people there will ponder them
their meaning to unravel
Garnish my plate with marigold
my dish with exotic herbs
I'll take my walks down country roads
which never yet had kerbs.

Sparrows fall to the ground
dark clouds deliver rain
an echo is a dying sound
shadows are not substance
the truth only real
more worthy than a glance
My lover has come home to me
bringing lilies
dandelions, morning oranges,
and burdock wine
I blew upon a dandelion
the seeds flew into the air
they will land in heaven's time
 who knows when or where
in foreign parts, dwellers there
will seek to all unravel
what touches the heart
of seekers who love to travel
fading beauty butterfly
pretty in the air
lighting there, a lovely ribbon,
fitting broach, append it there
beauty to behold but not be held
it rubs off in your hand
t'was in freedom she excelled
In the distance a dog barks
there must be a reason
but people will not listen
until it is the season
A winter frown is coming
frozen smile austere
biting, freezing hardness
coming near, it's here.
Money still buys flour
overflowing wine
but happiness is priceless
a laughter that is kind
My words take wings
my flowers bloom
redbreast Robin sings
dispelling all our gloom
did I not tell you
the thing is hidden
so draw no conclusion
without being bidden
In the distance a dog barks
there must be a reason
but people will not listen
until it is the season
Gild my plate with marigold
fill my dish with herbs
I make my way down country lanes
where never yet were kerbs.

Good one Billy, Not much of a poem person but a good one.

Thanks Blade.

When I first started on the net I had a poetry blog, the only reason I started it was to link it to my Gospel blog and other links to gospel sites.

It was very successful.

This poem is but a snatch from a much, much longer poem I did … about 336 lines [ can you believe?] all in the same vein.

One young guy from Singapore got permission from his college to do his English language thesis taken it as his subject.

Up until then I had no interest in poetry and still don't care about it much.

Awesome Billy. I'm going to make your own forum with all of your threads brother. You can pick an image to represent your forum like the other forums have. Anything but your pretty face !!!
