Why obey?
« on: September 09, 2019, 09:03:34 am »
People have various reasons for obeying or trying to obey God.  As my husband and I were talking this weekend I began wondering what all your reasons for following or obeying were.

A few I have run across.....to get to heaven

Because God wants us to obey

Because God can send us to hell

Because we love God

Which one do you fall into or is there another reason?

Because there is no one or anything else that gives my life and existence meaning, purpose and hope. God gives me all of that and even more, he loves me.

I just want to add that I love God and always have ever since I was a small child.

It is a commandment of our lord Jesus and savior.

true, but why?  Why is that commandment of enough significance to spur us to obedience?

Because our conscience is seared.

My faith and love for Jesus Christ invokes a need to obey his every commandment. I don't even think about it when it happens. I just do it.
