Why did God create man?
« on: June 10, 2019, 11:38:01 am »
This should make for an interesting question...we usually consider that Christ was given for man and leave it there, but why would God create man? What does God gain from man that He doesn't gain from the rest of His creation?

He created mankind in His image to share Himself and His love and to share in His creation for eternity.

I would say that God created man for his good pleasure and will and purpose. I think all his creation was for that reason.

As for what God would gain from man, I'm not sure how to answer that because I don't think God needs anything or needs to gain anything. We are the ones who need. We need God.

Please consider:
angel is a job description, not a race or species. There was only one species created which is created in the image of GOD. All differences between folk are due to the consequences of the free will decision to sin.

To Glorify GOD.

According to John 17:1 (KJV).." These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:"

I suspect God's reason is touched on by Ted when He said He wants a bride....in fact, I would suggest that is why man was made in His image whereas the angels are not in His image.  IOW's He wants and needs a relationship with someone that is similar to Him....NOT TO BE TAKEN TOO FAR OUT OF CONTEXT AND TWISTED  (not by you) INTO SOMETHING PROVERSE

The quote does not say man glorifies GOD but is Christ asking for GOD to glorify Him. Does that mean that we glorify HIM when HE glorifies us???

How does man glorify God?

LORI without going into a long drawn out response; To Glorify GOD would be to :
(1) praise and worship (God).
(2) describe or represent as admirable, especially unjustifiably1.

God made man in His image. God also made Jesus in His Image and called Him SON. Throughout Christ’s lifetime, He manifested (displayed or show (a quality or feeling) by one's acts or appearance; demonstrate.), the Father’s image perfectly; ". He thereby glorified GOD.

For in John 17:1(KJV)...."These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:"

Through Jesus Christ and HIS Grace, those of mankind who are believers of His Gospel, glorify HIM through praise, worship, and thanksgiving as they are called "Sons of GOD"

Rom 8:14.."For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

For the Bride of Christ, will worship Him from the mezzanine and throw their crowns before the throne as seen in:

Rev. 4:10.."The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,"

Hope this helps you, Blessings

Interesting, but I still agree with God created mankind in His image for His good pleasure AND to express His love, to share His love for His finest creation.

I'm not real sure what you are asking....the point is that God be glorified...that is why we live Christ, so that He will be glorified...it is not for our glory that we do anything, or should be anyway...but for God's glory that is why He equips us with the HS.
