What scripture says we must believe...
« on: June 30, 2021, 09:26:16 am »
What must we believe…

Even in the Old Testament, it was belief that was credited to our account as righteousness.  IOW’s faith is what saves in both the Old Testament and the New... Genesis 15:6; Psalms 106:31; Romans 4:11; Galatians 3:6; Romans 10:4

So what belief saves in the New Testament?

We are to believe in God and in God the Father…
   Psalm 78:22; John 5:24; John 6:40; John 12:44; John 14:1; John 14:7-11;
   Acts 15:11; Acts 18:27; Romans 1:17; Galatians 2:16; Galatians 3:6

If we believe the Father, we must also believe His testimony, but not just His testimony…
   I John 5:6-13; Isaiah 43:8-13; John 1:7; John 19:35; II Thessalonians 1:10;
I John 5:10

The testimony we believe is that of the good news of Christ, the gospel message…
   Mark 1:15; Mark 16:15-17; John 17:20-26; Acts 4:4; Romans 1:16;
   I Corinthians 1:21; John 20:27

This testimony and the good news is true…
   John 8:45; I Thessalonians 2:13; II Thessalonians 2:12; I Timothy 4:3

And that testimony is not just in words but also in works…
   Psalms 78:32; John 10:38
      His promises…
   Psalms 106:12; John 2:22; Galatians 3:22
      The Prophets…
   Luke 24:25; John 5:39

And so what do we believe about Jesus?

We must believe that He is the Christ, the Messiah, the promised One…
   John 6:69; John 8:24; John 11:27; John 28:31; Acts 19:4; I John 5:1
      That He is the Son of God/sent by God…
   John 3:36; Acts 8:37; Acts 16:31; John 16:27; John 17:21
      That He is the Cornerstone…
   I Peter 2:6; Ephesians 2:20; Isaiah 28:16
      He is the Light of the World…
   John 12:36; John 12:46

We believe in His death and resurrection…
   Mark 16:14; John 11:25; John 20:8; I Thessalonians 4:14

That in Him we are justified…
   Acts 10:43; Acts 13:39; Romans 3:22; Romans 10:10

We believe that we can know Him personally…
   I Timothy 1:12; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 1:5; I John 4:16; Romans 8:28

We are to remain in Him as He is in us, even through suffering...it’s about enduring…
   Psalms 116:10; I Corinthians 5:11; Philippians 1:29
      This in Him is to be like Him, to represent Him through how we live,
obedience…
   John 1:12; John 3:15-16; John 7:38-39; I Peter 1:8; I John 3:23; I John 5:13;
I Thessalonians 4:8

As being one with Him, we know that He answers our prayers…
   Matthew 21:22; Mark 11:23;
      That He is the one that gives Life…
   John 14:6; John 1:4; John 11:25
      That we will be raised and live with Him…
   Romans 6:8; Hebrews 11:6
      That confession is important to our relationship with Christ…
   Romans 10:9; Matthew 10:32; Luke 12:8; I John 4:15

We believe that we have a guarantee of all of this in the Holy Spirit…
   Acts 11:17; II Corinthians 1:22; Romans 8:16; II Corinthians 5:5; Ephesians 1:14

And why?  Because God is One and thus is not divided in His Love
   James 2:19; Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29

Yet in the past when I asked if something was repeated to enhance it or to challenge it, I was attacked and put down...so I wonder why I would assume you were challenging it not enhancing what I said from scripture?  You can drop the attitude that I am your problem...you are your own problem...In the immortal words of PJ...GROW UP

   Psalm 78:22; John 5:24; John 6:40; John 12:44; John 14:1; John 14:7-11;
   Acts 15:11; Acts 18:27; Romans 1:17; Galatians 2:16; Galatians 3:6

If we believe the Father, we must also believe His testimony, but not just His testimony…
   I John 5:6-13; Isaiah 43:8-13; John 1:7; John 19:35; II Thessalonians 1:10;
I John 5:10

The testimony we believe is that of the good news of Christ, the gospel message…
   Mark 1:15; Mark 16:15-17; John 17:20-26; Acts 4:4; Romans 1:16;
   I Corinthians 1:21; John 20:27

This testimony and the good news is true…
   John 8:45; I Thessalonians 2:13; II Thessalonians 2:12; I Timothy 4:3

And that testimony is not just in words but also in works…
   Psalms 78:32; John 10:38
      His promises…
   Psalms 106:12; John 2:22; Galatians 3:22
      The Prophets…
   Luke 24:25; John 5:39

And so what do we believe about Jesus?

We must believe that He is the Christ, the Messiah, the promised One…
   John 6:69; John 8:24; John 11:27; John 28:31; Acts 19:4; I John 5:1
      That He is the Son of God/sent by God…

Please show where those are missing in the list of things that we are told we need to believe???  I'm anxious to see what you didn't read.  Yes, I asked my husband what I was missing and he looked at me and said that what you claimed, was what I just posted...only I used scripture which you didn't do, so please show me what you missed in my OP it will help me know how to communicate with you, I mean, if you are interested in communication that is.
Just made a statement, if for nothing else than to enhance your post. However, as usual, you take offense to it and even drag your husband in on your misgivings.

So Sad and Unbelievable!

Blade
Yet in the past when I asked if something was repeated to enhance it or to challenge it, I was attacked and put down...so I wonder why I would assume you were challenging it not enhancing what I said from scripture?  You can drop the attitude that I am your problem...you are your own problem...In the immortal words of PJ...GROW UP

you said:"You can drop the attitude that I am your problem..."

When have I ever said you were a problem of mine? I have no baggage, neither mine nor others.

Blade

Lori Bolinger,
re:  "What must we believe…"

The problem is that beliefs cannot be consciously chosen, i.e., engendered.

BTW, is there any particular reason why all of the previous posts are repeated over and over in subsequent posts?

That happens when you quote a post, it posts all posts in the quote.

But Bladerunner was only responding to Lori Bolinger's comment in the last sentence of her last post.  The rest of the post should have been highlighted and deleted.  Why use up all of the extra bandwidth? The same would be true of the other posters as well.

what do you mean "repeated over and over in subsequent posts?

As to what we believe.  Salvation is a belief of the heart which is not a mental consent, amen, but that isn't what we are talking about here.  Here we are looking at basically what some would call sound teaching, iow's the things that the early church believed as per their salvation and what that means as far as accepting and internalizing the truths that Christ was teaching them.

the repeated over and over I think is one of the little glitches with this setup.  If you respond to a post where you quote another, then the next response pulls it all forward.  If I am understanding the question and response I believe I saw somewhere else.
