Lori, it is good to hear directly from you again. My understanding is that  'formational study of scripture' (Philosophical) usually results in views of scripture that are not there resulting in more sin, not less.

informational meaning how to apply it to our lives so that we become more and more like Christ, is in your opinion creating different views of scripture and thus resulting in sin...how can something that draws us to be more like Christ be creating more sin since Christ was sinless?   Remember, you are the one that pointed out you take a more philosophical view where I take a more application view.

Yes, the HS is within me and Yes, I sin everyday, not because I do not give myself over to HIM completely(which I have) but rather because as long as I am in this mortal, fleshly body and have free-will, I will sin regardless.

this makes me so sad, because if Christ came with the power over sin and death but the only hope you have is in the resurrection, then He only accomplished 1/2 of what He came to do.  I personally believe in the God who accomplishes everything He wills, not just half of it.

Yes, When I sin I know it immediately and have to backup, ask myself why did I do that and place that thought in an area where I will TRY to remember to catch myself from repeating this sin again....This is the sanctification process of my walk with our Lord Jesus Christ.

As long as I am in this temporary, mortal body, I am going to sin daily!will get better and maybe not sin everyday but there will be times that I still as much as I try, I will still sin. I

So the Christ in you is not powerful enough to overcome sin...I would love for you to weigh in on where the power is then...

The 'GEE-HA' is a throw back to the days when people drove mules like they drive cars these days. In part it means that you and I will not agree on anything because we are on two different sides of the SAME ROAD..

You see it Philosophical  and I see it Practical. By that I mean: A sin is a sin and I do not delve into the whys, hows, what for's and what happens to me, to include those around me or the HS when I sin..

this is the exact opposite of what you originally claimed and just for the record, formational means to put it into practice, which is what you previously objected to me doing....why are you now changing your mind?  All I am asking in this thread is what is sin?  It's not about philosophical anything, it's about practice, what is a sin?   If we don't know what sin is, how can we avoid it?  Just do anything we want until God says, "that didn't make me happy", then repent???

For a little clarity, lets take the example of a LIE to a person who is a little fat, knows they are fat yet, needs a "WHITE-LIE" from others in order to make them feel good about themselves.

Now GOD Hates LIES..It is in the top seven of His list according to His Word.

so you believe in a hierarchy of sin...where is the line drawn on what sins lead to death and which one's don't? 

I just know it is wrong to LIE (in any form). Is a 'WhiteLIE' to make someone feel better a sin,YES... A Lie is a Lie is a Lie is Lie, etc.

But according to Philosophical  terms, This 'WhiteLie' would be OK simply because it is making someone feel better about themselves ( a good deed)..Nevertheless this then leads to the enhancement of these WhiteLIES (that are ok) to cover LIES that are not OK.  Hope this makes sense without further explanation.

I don't see anything in scripture saying that a "white lie" is okay...but then again, I am all about application, so there is that.

I am just a simple country boy and know that truth has only one path no matter how many ways your turn it. Any deviation from its original path is a LIE not matter how small.

so are you saying you believe that sin is anything that violates our conscience?

SO, I try not to LIE in any form. It is as simple as that. The practical side.
