I'm not much of a "scholar" of the Bible (and even disagree with much of it).
In my opinion, I think this is close to a Buddhist point of view (I'm no Buddhist though)...

WE as humans are reponsible for our sins.

The worst type of sin is to intentionally harm an innocent person (or animal).

If you do something wrong that you don't understand is a sin, you're still responsible.
If you don't know that you're sinning you can never learn to become a better person (the danger is that you lie to yourself)...

The hypothetical "best" of humans, wouldn't even have the urge to sin, and wouldn't need any (holy) "book" to refrain from sinning.

I still don't know if we have the (active) responsibility to also fight against the crimes of the elite.
