Based on a recent discussion I had, I think we need to have a talk about what sin is.  Romans 14:23 23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

I have heard people claim that sin is a breaking of the law, and yes, at one time I might have been in that category but that presents problems with which law and what about the NT.  Some people claim that sin is a list of offenses, much like our law in this country.  Others might argue that sin is what goes against our conscience.  But here we see scripture declaring that sin is anything NOT done in faith (trust of the Living God) which closes up so many of the holes the other versions leave open and it also shows us why only true believers can be without sin as well as why in Christ we become a new creation.  Everything the believer does is to be done in faith, in trust of who God is and what He wants for us.  If we are trusting God, how can we go wrong? (sin)

Even believers sin.....The Bible teaches us that there are three tenses of Sin.

1. Past Tense....I have been saved.... from all my past Sins

2. Present tense....I am being saved..from the sins that I commit daily.

3. Future Tense...I will be saved...from the sins I commit in the future.

Lori....question please.

Since you are saved and have the indwelling Holy Spirit is it your contention that Holy Spirit is responsible for all your daily actions?

OR

Is it your contention that you are the responsible party for all your daily actions?

Blade
Why is it when we talk about God's power over sin and death that it always comes down to people making excuses for sinning as if God's only power is over death?

Okay, when I sin, it is because I am NOT allowing God to have full control over my life...how can I make it any clearer...God is greater than sin, so if I sin it is my fault for not giving the reigns to God.

Now, the question being asked, is what is sin?  I don't see your answer here.

I guess you and I are not going to GEE-HA on the majority of your questions....I look at sins simply and literally as stated in GOD's Word. You either commit them or you don't.

You look at the mechanics of how one sins and what is happening to the person and GOD when one does sin.

Philosophical vs. Practical

Good Day Lori.
