There is a prevailing thought in many churches today that if someone is not healed it is because there is a lack of Faith...and throughout scripture we see Jesus saying time and again, "your faith has..." but what about righteousness? Even in James 5 (in context) we see ...16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. ...the need to reconcile oneself before God before praying iow's having a right relationship with God or in another word, making sure there is nothing standing in the way of your prayers.

Even other places in scripture it says that God hears the prayers of the righteous but turns a deaf ear to the unrighteous....Prov. 15:29 and others

Before we open this up to discussion, I believe we need both, but it seems to me that righteousness is more important for the righteous would have faith. Any thoughts? Is unrighteousness keeping us from seeing as many miracles as we might want to see?

I was told on another forum by someone that if I had enough faith that my cancer would have been cured and that I put more trust in doctors and their treatments and lacked faith to be healed without doctors and chemo and radiation.

I think one thing that keeps us from seeing miracles is that maybe we don't recognize miracles when they happen and see them as coincidences, close calls or even as being lucky, not that I believe in luck but I've heard people say, "I was just lucky" or "they were lucky". Some people also say that there are things that we just don't understand.

I think both faith and righteousness are important but there's something else that figures into it.  Rom. 9:15 For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. 17 For the scripture says unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.18 Therefore has he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardens.

Who accused you of flaming, a Mod? I mean if I pray for something ant it takes years but the prayers are answered, isn't that a small miracle?

No worries, it was a different forum but yes, a mod...I was also warned once for flaming by asking if we ever pray covetous prayers...heck, once I was warned for accepting an apology which is why I needed to leave that forum.

I am not sure how to answer your question...I would say that yes, but not the way most people use the word miracle.

True, most people think of a miracle as more like magic. I know that amazing healing and recovery has happened through prayer and life changing events etc. I am amazed so I think of them as miracles but there can be different levels of "miracles" I think.

WE have prayed for my healing as well as answers that would help...to us, both are miracles...

BTW, we may have some new information on the newest research that might help...we should know in a few weeks...and since there is a hereditary element we are excited that if it helps, we might be able to help others not just on line or something but some family too.

An answered prayer could be either or both. (a simple answer or a Miracle)
