I was looking over some of my study notes and it struck me just how much scripture talks about our relationship to God.

Here is a sampling.



I Corinthians 12:27...Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it...(we are His body)





Colossians 1:18...And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy...(He is the Head)





II Corinthians 11:2...I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him...(He is the Bridegroom we are the bride)





John 15:5..."I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing...(He is the Vine we are the branches)





John 15:2...He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful...(He is the husbandman, we are the branch)





Isaiah 64:8...Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand...(He is the Potter, we are the clay)





Psalms 95:3...For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods...(He is our King)





Revelation 22:9...But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets and of all who keep the words of this book. Worship God!"...(we are co-servants)





Romans 9:20...But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"...(He is the Creator, we are the creation)





Romans 14:4...Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand....(He is the Master, we are the servant)





Romans 8:15...For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."...(He is the Father, we are the children)





John 10:14-15...“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep...(He is the Shepherd, we are the sheep)





John 13:13-17...“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.  Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them...(He is the Teacher, we are his students/disciples)





John 14:6...Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me...(He is the Way, Truth, and Life, we follow)





John 10:9...I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture...(He is the Gate, we are those that travel and  those that enter)





Psalms 91:4...He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart...(He is the Hen, we are the chicks)





Psalms 17:8...Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings...(He is our Refuge, we are the apple of His eye)





Romans 8:17...Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory...(He is our Brother, we are siblings)





I John 3:24...Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us...(He dwells in us and we dwell in Him)





Romans 8:29...For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers...(He chose us to be conformed into His likeness)





Malachi 3:3...He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the LORD will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness,...(He is the Refiner, we are the precious metals)
