Persecution....
« on: December 24, 2018, 09:35:36 am »
Brian and I were just talking and an interesting question came up.  So I will pose it to you all and see what you have to offer.

What is the role of persecution in spreading the gospel?

What is the role of persecution in spreading the gospel?
Persecution was very real in early Christianity as we know and it has been ever since Jesus walked the earth. Times change but the persecution continues even now. There is physical persecution and spiritual persecution. I know that the more we spread the gospel and the more people we reach we come under demonic attacks, spiritual attacks. We can keep them at bay through faith and prayer and staying in the word.

I'm more aware of these things now than ever before in my life. Reflection always shows me clearly what was happening when I didn't know at the time they were happening. I am devastated when I hear of Christians in China and muslim lands that are tortured and murdered, starved and forced to leave their lands and homes.

In many parts of the world today it is very risky and dangerous to be a Christian and to openly worship Jesus Christ and the God of Christianity.

amen...and yet when these same Christians are forced to leave their homes and lands, they take Christ with them and effectively spread the gospel to other people.

In Nigeria where Brian grew up, the Muslim's persecuted the Christians to the point of them fleeing and the end result was 95% of the population of the tribe they were part of came to Christ.  Persecution not only spreads the gospel by forcing people to move but it reveals the power of Christ even over persecution.

Yes it's really bad in Africa too. We are really blessed to live in America and so many people complain. Yes you're right about the persecution spreading the gospel even more and that's the power of God unto salvation, it cannot be contained and will never be stopped.

And people that try to help end up getting killed too.

I'll just add that persecution can strengthen a Christian. Also, it can be a witness to others to see such strong faith to endure severe persecution. It can make an impression on people and make them want to have that same kind of faith and strength. I've read a lot of news stories on severe persecution in different parts of the world. The one thing that non-Christians would say about Christians was that it was their kindness and compassion that they noticed the most and that they showed this to others even to Muslims and went out of their way to live in peace with them and as a result many Muslims became Christians. Also the one thing that Christians in those countries ask for the most is prayer and they say to not forget about them.

There is coming a persecution of Christians that has  never been seen on this earth before. Time is short. Make your peace with GOD!
