Dear Lori & Patrick,

The posts on this Thread are way too LOONG.  All that I can do is come back to them some other time to read them.  That ends up not happening because I'm on another Thread or Post instead.  Then, I end up running out of time to go back and read one of them.

I know that I am the LAST person to be offering this concern, because I've learned about it through my own posts being too long.  This is only friendly and helpful advice.  I also want to share a little something with you in the next paragraph.

How God Knows You:

*God is whispering, "You don't have all of the answers, but I do. That is why I need you to place your trust in me. I am your answer. I am your healer. I am your provider. I am your comforter. I am your protector. I am your deliverer. I am everything that you need."*

today our Creator...Michael, this is the short version believe it or not....hahaha....if might help to just read my words and then if you need check out the supporting verses, or the other way around.


God is a creator by nature, He loves to create.  With a flare for the dramatic, the care of precision, and the imagination of a creator, God created.  He is the creator of everything, the seen and the unseen, God created.

Romans 1:25 (NIV)  They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Colossians 3:10 (NIV)   and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

I Peter 4:19 (NIV)  So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV)  By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

   With the touch of the Masters hand, the creation takes on a new value, a great value.  It is the very touch of the Masters hand to reveals it great worth.  Lack no other can create, the Master's hand adds value, beyond compare.

I Timothy 4:8 (NIV)  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Luke 16:15 (NIV)  He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God’s sight.

Galatians 5:6 (NIV)  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.


Hebrews 11:26 (NIV)  He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

   With an intimacy and specific and intricate details, the Creator knows His creation.  With great detail the creator knows every part of His creation with pain staking attention and fondness/  Nothing about His creation goes unnoticed.

Matthew 10:30 (NIV)  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Luke 21:18 (NIV)  But not a hair of your head will perish.

Matthew 10:26 (NIV)  “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

I Corinthian 8:3 (NIV)  But whoever loves God is known by God.

II Timothy 2:19 (NIV)  Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

   The creator creates with a purpose in mind.  He has a plan for the creation, a reason for their existence.  With purpose He plans and creates.   

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

II Corinthian 9:8 (NIV)  And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Ephesians 1:4 (NIV)  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

Isaiah 43:7 (NIV)  everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

   The purpose for creation is not limited to the creation itself, but with specific purpose, each part, each detail also has purpose.  It is with careful planing and exact detail that each individual part has a unique place in creation.  With care the craftsman decides what he will make and what qualities are needed to accomplish the task chosen.  With precision, the creator sculpts for the purpose intended. 
II Timothy 2:20-21 (NIV)  In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.  Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

Romans 9:20-21 (NIV)  But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?

Isaiah 45:9 (NIV)  “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds
among the potsherds on the ground.
Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’
Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?

   The Master Craftsman sees what is within, the potential and beauty that is hidden from the eye, and with exact efforts and skillful manipulations, He works the raw material into a masterpiece of great value.  Through fire and cuts of stone, the work of art begins to emerge, revealing what the master knew from the beginning was hidden deep within.

Malachi 3:2 (NIV)  But who can endure the day of his coming? Who can stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap.

Daniel 11:35 (NIV)  Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.

Zechariah 13:9 (NIV)  This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

I Peter 1:7 (NIV)  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
   The love of the Master Craftsman is sometimes one of discomfort and pain.  With suffering the real beauty emerges and reveals things that others could not see, things that others could not begin to imagine as the Master works, tirelessly to bring out the beauty that He envisions, the wonders hidden within the depth, behind all the rough edges. 

James 1:2-4 (NIV)  Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Luke 21:19 (NIV)  Stand firm, and you will win life.

James 1:12 (NIV)  Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

James 5:11 (NIV)  As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
   The Masterpiece is a willing work.  With understanding, the “clay” willingly subjects himself to the masters hand, knowing that it is the very touch of the masters hand that will result in something beyond his imagination.  With love the Master accepts the challenge and works like a true craftsman.  Always by invitation, the master works, creating lives of great worth.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (NIV)  This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Joshua 24:15 (NIV)  But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”

Proverbs 3:31 (NIV)  Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways.

   The creation is a vital, living, breathing, moving, growing creation.  In wisdom the creator seeks that creation to mature and grow. 

Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)  Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 6:1 (NIV)  Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,

Hebrews 5:14 (NIV)  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

When Christ sent us the HS His Love was so complete that it left us without excuse and yet we make excuses all the time, often times in ignorance of all that the HS does in our lives if we allow Him control.

The Holy Spirit also known as the Comforter, loves us from the inside out.  He dwells within us transforming us from the inside, loving us from the inside, so that the changes and love within our being can be viewed by the outside world.

Ephesians 2:22 (NIV)  And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 

Romans 8:9 (NIV)  You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

   Comforter love is that love which teaches us the things of God.  Things that are written on our hearts in our minds.  The convictions of Spirit that compel us to open and to seek an ever deeper relationship with our God.

I Corinthian 2:10-13 (NIV)  However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.  This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.  The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.  The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.

John 14:26 (NIV)   But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 2:27 (NIV)  As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

Psalms 32:8 (NIV)  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

   The teaching of the Spirit is always consistent with the teachings of scripture because they are from the exact same source...God.  With only one Holy Spirit who is from God and in agreement with God and is God, there can only be one truth, therefore, the Holy Spirit's teaching within us, will always match up perfectly with the teaching of scripture.  This matching up is one way to test the voice and see if it is from God.  This mark of being Spirit led is found in unity.

I John 5:6-8 (NIV)  This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.  For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

John 16:13 (NIV)  But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Ephesians 4:3-6 (NIV)  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Philippians 1:27 (NIV)  Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

   The Comforter works best with a willing and pliable heart, teaching and showing things of mystery to the world.  It is the soft heart that offers fertile ground for the word to grow and blossom and produce fruit.  With great care the Comforter cultivates the seeds of truth and helps them grow into productive plants able to reproduce seeds of truth of their own.  Out of love the Comforter teaches for our own good, our own safety.

Psalms 25:4-5 (NIV)  Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Psalms 27:11 (NIV)  Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.

Psalms 86:11 (NIV)  Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

Psalms 143:10 (NIV)  Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

   To the listening ears, the Comforter whispers truths too numerous to count, to awesome to understand.  To the listening ear, the Comforter teaches.  In grace and truth the comforter love with a pure heart, a gentle touch, a caring, compassionate love.

Proverbs 1:32-33 (NIV)  For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of   fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

Proverbs 8:33-34 (NIV)  Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it.
Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

Proverbs 25:12 (NIV) Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear. 

   With the love of an advocate, the love of one who comes up beside us and does not leave us alone, the comforter is always there with us.  The Comforter is always advocating on our behalf.  Testifying to whose we are, the comforter never tires, never leaves us alone.

John 14:26 (NIV)  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 15:26-27 (NIV)  “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.  And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.

I John 2:1 (NIV)  My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

   Strengthening us for the task at hand, the comforter loves.  What He asks of us is a journey that is filled with peril and dangers of all kinds, but the Comforter does not ask us to take this journey, the quest alone, instead, He comes up beside us and strengthens us, filling us with power beyond our wildest dreams, teaching us and guiding us along the way, making straight the narrow path He chooses for us and equipping us for those trials we will find along the way.

Romans 8:26 (NIV)  In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

I Corinthian 4:10 (NIV)  We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!

II Corinthian 12:9-10 (NIV)  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

II Corinthian 13:4 (NIV)  For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him in our dealing with you.

   With so many different voices in the world, so many different people claiming truth, the Love of the Holy Spirit fills us with a recognizable truth.  A truth that cannot be denied or counterfeited.  This truth radiates throughout our being and consumes every part of our lives,.  It is truth that is unmistakably from God and a truth that transforms us from workers of evil to bearers of truth.

John 13:35 (NIV)  By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

I John 3:10 (NIV)  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
John 8:44 (NIV)  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
I John 2:4-6 (NIV)  The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

   As Father, God loves us with a pure, pampering love.  It's a love that lavishes us with good things, health giving things.  The Father bestows good gifts to his children, not only because He loves them but also because He knows them intimately.  With a great care and determination to love the child with a pure undefiled love, the Father chooses a gift that He knows will be the perfect gift for the child.  That gift that He chooses is the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost).  But the Father not only chooses the gift of the Holy Spirit for us His children but that gift is custom made to fit the love the Creator used when He created us.  Each gift, each detail is specifically tailors to suit our needs, our purpose, our inner most being.  With great care and detail, the Father gifts His children the Holy Spirit and with that Spirit, God further loves His children with more gifts that are so perfect in their selection that only a Father could choose so wisely.
   These gifts within a gift serve a purpose as well, they remind us that God is sovereign, choosing whom He will for the specific purpose He appoints.  But these gifts also serve the community, equipping the Church to function in the unity and love that only a King can understand and carry out.  Like a tie that binds, the Comforter loves with a demonstration of both Father love and King Love, fulfilling both within His purpose and within us, loving us from the inside out.

John 14:25-27 (NIV)  These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Luke 11:12-13 (NIV)  Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Acts 2:33 (NIV)  Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

   Being Spirit and not flesh, the Comforter teaches us not only through the spirit but the things of the spirit.  The Comforter helps us to change our perspective from the temporal to the eternal, from the flesh to the spirit.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)  “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.
 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Colossians 3:2 (NIV)  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Philippians 3:19-20 (NIV)  Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.  But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

   Comforter love is a love with power.  In power it moves mountains, in power it transforms us, in power we begin to show the world the supernatural, living God. 
   
I Corinthian 13:2 (NIV)  If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

Matthew 17:20 (NIV)  He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 21:21 (NIV)  Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.

   With amazing love, the Holy Spirit reveals to us the truths of God.  With unquestioning wisdom He shows us His grace, reveals to us His love, grants to us the secrets of His sovereignty.
II Corinthian 4:10-11 (NIV)  We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.  For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.

I Corinthian 2:9-10 (NIV)  However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—  these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

I tried what you said, and it does help to skip some of the Scriptural references.  I'm the type, though, that likes to read the info that backs up the subject.  I just read this one of your posts and it is very good!  You are an unusual person to put all of this together as a post.  You seem to be like one of the best women I've ever found to be so knowledgeable about the Bible.

Todays entry is about how God Loves us with a Brother's Love...

The believers of Christ, become brothers with Him, joint heirs.  They are not of equal status in that Christ is the firstborn, the one with privilege. (Colossians 1:15-20)  Nevertheless, we become sharers in our Savior's inheritance.  We are brothers and it is that brother love that draws us even deeper into an understanding of what real love, Biblical love really is.  We are adopted, found of such great value that we are desired children, called from among the world to become part of the royal family.

Romans 8:17 (NIV)  Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Galatians 3:29 (NIV)  If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 4:7 (NIV)  So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Revelations 21:7 (NIV)  Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

   With an intimacy unlike any other, brothers share both the good and the bad, carrying one anothers burdens and rejoicing in one anothers joys.  With specific purpose the a brother knows the intimate details, the private things, there is little brothers can hide from each other.  It is your brother that comes to the rescue when you are down...

   Just as brother love is sometimes confrontational, it also protects with a fierceness and loyalty unlike any other.  The same brother who can and does stir us with painfully honest truth, also protects us with a passion equal in intensity.  There is no foe beyond the reach of the protective care of our brother.  No enemy that He will not stand up to for us.  With loyalty and faithfulness, the Brother defends and loves. 

I Corinthian 1;9 (NIV)  God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:28 (NIV)  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I Corinthian 10:13 (NIV)  No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

II Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)  But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

   In shared experiences and memories, brothers remember and in those memories find a bond that is unmatched.  When storms of disagreement invade the relationship, memories can sooth over the ills.  In times of troubles it is the memories that assure us that we are loved and cared for and have someone we can turn to.  Memories cement the relationship in time and space and guard it from falling prey to the divisions that plague so many of our relationships.  The brother remembers all the past and in those memories loves with an honesty and purity based on relationship.

Revelation 3:3 (NIV)  Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Psalms 103:1-5 (NIV)  Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

   With an unfailing love, with an undconditional love, the brother is our constant in a world of failing relationships.  There is nothing that can separate our ties and connections with our brother but we ourselves.  Even when we fail, our brother's love remains.  Even when we are at odds with one another, our brother's love lasts.  When we speak evil of our brother, when we fight, when we passionately show our anger, when the world is great and we are the best of friends, our brothers love is unwavering, it's a stable, a constant.
Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)  The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Romans 5:10 (NIV)  For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

we finish the study portion by returning to God Love

So many times in our lives, love comes to us and we don't recognize it.  As if it is clothes in a the shadows of darkness, we allow it to slip by unnoticed.  Love knocks on our door and we turn it away without a second thought because it is not familiar to us.  It is important for God's children to take notice and begin to recognize love when it touches us.  Whether that touch of love is from God or brothers and sisters in Christ, love, is important enough to learn to recognize, to become familiar with it, to begin to know it on a first name basis.

John 1:10-11 (NIV)  He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

Isaiah 53:3 (NIV)  He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Matthew 17:12 (NIV)  But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”

Luke 24:31 (NIV)  Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.

   The love of God turns our world upside down, taking what we once thought was good and calling it evil.  Our entire point of view, our perspective shifts from the things of the flesh to the things of God.  As if we are wearing glasses, our vision is clearer and our hearts purer as we allow love to enter into us and transform us.  We no longer see things through the eyes of the world, but now, we see things through the eyes of God.

John 15:18 (NIV)  "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
Matthew 10:22 (NIV)  All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

John 7:7 (NIV)  The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil.

I John 3:1 (NIV)  How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

II Corinthian 2: 15-16 (NIV)  For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?

   With a new perspective God loves us with new revelation, new insight into who He is.  With power and strength beyond our own, God loves us unto life.  We no longer need to fear weakness, no longer do we need to live in doubts, for our God's love is bountiful and powerful, strengthening us for the task at hand, empowering us to run the race to it's completion.  With renewal, God loves us, in strength and power that are not our own.

Philippians 4:10-13 (NIV)  I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Isaiah 40:30-31 (NIV)  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

II Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

Acts 2:24-28 (NIV)  But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. David said about him:
“‘I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.
You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’

II Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV)  We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)  Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6-8 (NIV)  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

   With the love of God we cease to live in ignorance.  No longer are we limited to our understanding, but we are given a new understanding, a new wisdom, a knowledge and wisdom that comes from God.  With a newness of vision and the secrets of our Savior, our Friend, we begin to see truth rather than lies and as love consumes us and transforms us, we begin to live in the truths and dismiss the lies.  With a newness on life, we allow ignorance to fade away into the darkness of our past, and step full and without shame into the light.


Ephesians 4:17-19 (NIV)  So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.  They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.  Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

Job 32:8  (NIV)  But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.

Knowledge – having information
I Corinthians 8:1 (NIV)  Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.

Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)  And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,  so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Colossians 1:9-10 (NIV)  For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. Wisdom – the application of knowledge
Proverbs 2:6 (NIV)  For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

James 3:17 (NIV)  But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Colossians 1:28 (NIV)  He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

Knowledge and wisdom
Ecclesiastes 2:26  (NIV)  To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Colossians 2:2-3 (NIV)  My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Isaiah 11:2 (NIV)  The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—

   A covenant is a binding promise.  It is a lasting agreement in which both parties are held accountable with strict understanding that it will not be broken.  It is a promise sealed with blood, lasting, binding, unbreakable.  It is with covenant that God loves.  His promise is without fault, binding.  He covers our sin with the blood of Christ and in so doing forgives our sins, makes intercession and allows us to have a relationship with Him that will lead us into His presence, into heaven.  By accepting the covenant offered, God loves us with a sacrifice of life.

Matthew 26:28 (NIV)  This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Luke 22:20 (NIV)  In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Romans 11:26b-27 (NIV)  As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

I Timothy 4:8 (NIV)  For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

I've always thought of God's love as being like the love of a good, loving Father. That has a lot to do with my childhood and the way I grew up. God has brought me through so much abuse and tragedy and gave me strength to keep going and to never give up.

There was a very low point for me when I was so close to giving up feeling like I had no choice and feeling so beaten down. God told me that I do have a choice and to trust and have faith in him no matter what happens. He pulled me out of darkness that was so overwhelming. He kept me alive. I am just so thankful and blessed that he has always been there for me. I know he loves me and he is forgiving. He has given me hope, courage and peace that surpasses all understanding.

this is the short version of the first study I did on Love.  The full study has all kinds of examples from real life about how we see these things expressed.  So glad you are enjoying it.

Sorry Lori, I accidentally deleted your post that I'm trying to reply to. I don't even know how I managed to do that. I guess I need more coffee.

My father was an evil man. My stepfather was evil too.  I think that's why I reached out to God so strongly as my Father. He is the only real Father I've ever had. The only one who loved me, comforted me, protected me, and communicated with me in his own way. He knew what I needed. He made me feel so loved. And I loved him as I still do. I just can't say enough good things about him.
