As far as I can tell he didn't gave his life "willingly". He didn't turn himself in. He was basically running from being murdered. According to the New Testament it was Judas who turned him in.
If I remember correctly, Jesus predicted that he would be executed and told his disciples NOT to fight.
Once a Jewish woman told me that "Jesus" isn't even His name...

how many times in scripture did He just "slip" away? He gave His life willingly, make no mistake. As to the Jewish woman...Jews do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah so there is that.

To me that is quite horrifying.
There are also sections from the Tanach that horrify me...

I would say disturbing but not horrifying, horrifying would be to die without Christ.
