Do your beliefs ever make you uncomfortable?
« on: March 14, 2019, 08:35:14 am »
Being this is a theology forum, there is a lot of talk about theology and doctrines...what I am wondering today is how many of your beliefs either do or have made you uncomfortable in light of II Timothy 4:3-4  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables...I think it is a question we all should ask ourselves.

Personally...to kick us off...there are many things that I believe that at first was somewhat uncomfortable but as I internalize them I cherish them because they speak to me about who God really is.  Kind of like I John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous...at first, some of His commands are uncomfortable but as we learn and grow and fall more in Love with God, they become comforting and encouraging because they reveal His heart.

What about you?  Do your beliefs make you uncomfortable?

There was a time when my beliefs made me uncomfortable but they don't anymore for the most part. I think that I once felt uncomfortable with my beliefs because I was trying so hard to fit in or to please other people and I felt I couldn't measure up to what others expected of me no matter how hard I tried. Then I realized what I was doing and came to understand that our Father in heaven sees my heart and doesn't judge the way people do and that He would help me learn and understand what I need to know no matter how long it takes and that I need to trust and have faith in Him.

My beliefs make so comfortable that sometimes I just cuddle up with a warm blanket and all my beliefs and I just feel so comfortable. Ha, kiddin. In my early 20s I started reading a book about Jesus from Edgar Cayce.

I started believing the things HE said about God and ancient history and I left the Bible to sit and gather dust. Then came Ancient Aliens, sheesh. I thank God that I made it through all that and the Holy Spirit led me back to the real Bible. Now I am secure in what I believe.

What about you?  Do your beliefs make you uncomfortable?

What makes me feel uncomfortable is when after a life of trying to understand the Bible, about who God is and who His son is, going from church to church, denomination to denomination, then the New age, the ancient Religions, all those different ideologies, even the negative atheist ones that started to make sense to me, which I realized was because the atheists were interpreting the Bible from a Religious perspective, like from a Christian Perspective instead of studying the Bible itself to see if Christianity was following the Bible or not, and now that I finally do understand it, I am labeled a heretic!?

I have been excommunicated from my old very conservative Church, to being Banned from many Christian Debating Forums, and the reason was NOT because I did not understand the Bible and just refused to understand it and its message, but because I did understand it, but it deviated from the Doctrines of the Church.

So yes, it is as you said: II Timothy 4:3-4  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables..

And the most dangerous, the most deceiving fable that denies both God and His son Word AKA Jesus Christ is this Trinity Doctrine that through twisting of Gods Word for now 1,700 years has just about blinded otherwise good and decent Bible reading seekers of Christ, to Gods truth. Which leads to salvation in another Jesus than Gods son Word who was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him, nor do they know him now. And the Bible shows that he came to His own, and even his own did not receive Him.

Funny story...I have been studying Love (agape) full time for years now...often I can say something, show it in scripture and have any number of people say something like, "well yeah it says that but..."  If we can't base all our beliefs on what scripture says then we are believing a man made God rather than the Living God of the Bible.
