Complete and utter trust...
« on: November 02, 2018, 12:46:31 pm »
In my quest to trust God completely and utterly in everything, I am reminded of just how often I fail to trust Him completely.

A few weeks ago, I was trying to get through the house (because of health problems I have to use a walker) and my son's massive (no exaggeration)  shoes were in the way after I had asked him to move them about 20 times (a bit of an exaggeration but you get it)  Well, my leg was killing me, I couldn't get through, he needed a ride, and so I got frustrated, let out something between a scream and a yell then burst into tears.  I spoke of this to our pastor and he pointed out that we all get frustrated....I accept that but that frustration is a lack of complete and utter trust in God and what He is doing in and through me.  Complete trust would have looked much different.

Even as I type this, I am struggling with that complete trust...which I am not sure I am ready to lay on the table of a public forum at this time....nothing that bad, just know that some people could take it wrong and not understand that the thing I want to talk about is how to trust God in everything not in all the other issues that could be drawn from my current frustrations.

So I'm not even sure what question I want to ask but I would love to talk about complete and utter trust of God in every situation.  Any part of it you want to talk about, how, why, when, is it even possible, etc. are all on the table.  EVen how to trust God when we fail once again...or forget to trust...any part of it all

Lori, while I was reading your post, there were some scriptures that came to mind so I'm going to share those scriptures and these scriptures have helped me many times when I felt like I had fallen short in some way and was feeling bad about it. And I hope that as you read these scriptures and meditate on them that you will find help and comfort from them. I know you are familiar with these scriptures.

Heb. 4:14 Therefore, since we have such a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

One of my many favorites...thanks.

I was talking to my husband about where I am right now with the issue I am not talking about...like I told him, it isn't that I am worried, or untrusting, but rather that my trust is not complete and utter abandonment to His will as per our current circumstances.

I know it would make more sense if I told you what was going on but like I said it would also be easy for people to get side tracked from the discussion and i don't want that.

Again...thanks, I love that scripture and Love being reminded...what a blessing.

Just to update everyone...the situation that has been bothering me is reconciled as I knew it would be in the hands of God but I am still interested in discussing the topic of complete and utter trust.

It's hard for me too Lori and any honest  person would admit the same things. We have little faith imo and we pray to help our unbelief. I'm not saying that folks don't believe and not you or me but it's our faith that is weak overall. Not all the time though because MOST of the time we trust, believe and we feel strong faith. It's in the weak moments when we have trouble trusting.

I also believe that the closer our relationship with Christ is, the more satan and his minions attack. Especially when we spread the gospel and lead others to the truth, when we help others and spread love and peace and truth, that brings the enemy to bear on us and he knows our weak points and attacks us there. I could talk a lot about this and I hope others join in.

The situation that has been weighing on me lately was an issue in which we wanted to try something new with my health issues but didn't have the money (not much but) anyway, I wanted to wait till payday and Brian wanted to order it and try it so I could hopefully get some relief....I had no doubt that God would provide, my fear was that spending money we didn't have on me was irresponsible.  Well, in the end of the matter we had more money than we should have and more than enough to cover the chance of me finding some relief.

As I was praying over these things, God kept laying this passage on my heart.  Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee....I think that sometimes it is very difficult to stay focused on God....whether it be pain or illness, grief, or watching a ball game, but it is when we focus on God that we find peace.

May we all be able to stay focused on the Living God whose peace is beyond compare and beyond the worlds understanding.

Psalm 91 King James Version (KJV)
91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

I don't think being frustrated is about trust in God. Even Jesus displayed righteous anger (in the temple). We are in our worldly, fallen state, we have our fallible bodies that we are not able to keep under control all the time. We should strive to live as close to Christ's example as we can, but we should not fall into the trap of scrupulosity and put ourselves down because of every single slip-up.

most of this I agree with, but where I disagree is that frustration and anger are the same thing
