Biblical, agape Love is a lavishing Love...
« on: April 28, 2021, 08:51:40 am »
How does God lavish His Love on us in the here and now?

We are lavished with salvation and forgiveness even while we are enemies....
Romans 5:8,10...But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us...For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

We are lavished with power even when we have no power...
Romans 5:6...You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

We are lavished with an advocate, and intercessor, a defender...
I John 2:1...My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

We are lavished with reconciliation, which is a two way street...
Colossians 1:15-20...The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

We are lavished by not having to face God's wrath...
Romans 5:9...Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!

We are lavished with Love even when we are unLoveable...
Romans 5:6-8...You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

We are lavished with all things...
Philippians 4:19...And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

We are lavished with the Holy Spirit....
Isaiah 11:2...The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD--

We are lavished with adoption by our King of kings and Lord of lords....
I John 3:1...How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

We are lavished with abundant life...
John 10:10...The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
We have been lavished with power and strength to do what before we could not do...

We are lavished with the righteousness of Christ...
Philippians 3:9...and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.

In Christ, we are lavished with a peace that passes all understanding...
Philippians4:7...And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We are lavished with a constant companion, a God that never leaves us...
Deuteronomy 31:6...Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

We are lavished with help in our time of trouble...
Psalms 9:9...The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

We are lavished by being a blessing to our King...
John 3:29...The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.

We are lavished with joy that is beyond words...
I Peter 1:8...Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

We are lavished with holiness...
Romans 6:22...But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

God lavishes us with Love, a Love so full that it flows out to others...
I John 4:16...And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

We are lavished with Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control...
Galatians 5:22-23...But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

We are lavished with God's goodness...
Psalms 31:19...How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.

We are lavished with faithfulness...
Psalms 108:4...For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

We are lavished with gentleness...
Luke 1:78...because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

We are lavished with self control...
Jonah 4:2...He prayed to the LORD, "O LORD, is this not what I said when I was still at home? That is why I was so quick to flee to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

We are lavished with compassion...
Psalms 103:8...The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

We are lavished with mercy...
I Timothy 1:16...But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

We are lavished with lack of fear...
I John 4:18...There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We are lavished with grace...
Ephesians 1:7...In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

We are lavished with an inheritance...
Ephesians 1:18...I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

We are lavished with Christ...
Ephesians 3:8...Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

We are lavished with hope...
Colossians 1:27...To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

We are lavished with a refuge, a safe haven...

We are lavished with boldness...
II Timothy 1:7...For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

We are lavished with a body to be united to, encouraged by, and lifted up in...
I Corinthians 12:27...Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

We are lavished with freedom...
Romans 6:15-23... 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We are lavished with friendship...
John 15:14-15...You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

We are lavished with the Word...
II Timothy 3:16-17...All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

We are lavished with a purpose...
Philippians 1:3-6...I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
We are lavished with faith...
Hebrews 11:1...Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

We are lavished with hope...
Romans 8:24-25...For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?  But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

Lori, I know you were speaking about Jesus that gave His life for our Sins...But thousands have given their life for both the righteous and
un-righteous  live in a free and civil society. Nobody can give their life for another's sins but they can give their life to give the other a chance to continue to live.    Rem, John 15:13.."Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
1 Cor 15:3-4.."For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

Acts 17:11.."These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
I have no idea how you think this addresses the OP but have at it, I know better than to challenge you with truth.

We are lavished with adoption by our King of kings and Lord of lords....
I John 3:1...How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

I John 3:1...How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Your answer here is part of the problem between you and I...you are dismissive and disrespectful and claim that it isn't because I am a woman but you don't treat the men here the same way.

Now Lori,,,,in my first post, I was correcting a false claim you were speaking of. My response only addressed  the claim and did not stray. Yet you want to make this between the sexes. WHY ????

Regardless, I am not going to stop posting where I feel the truth needs to be corrected or at least my opinion needs to be known.

Blessing to you and yours Lori.

When you think that scripture is making a false claim then you have a bigger problem than even I realize and since my claim that you were "correcting" was scripture, your problem is much much deeper.

I have no idea how you think this addresses the OP but have at it, I know better than to challenge you with truth.

Whatever!

No yor claim did not have anything to do with scripture. Here it is: REMEMBER?  "Your answer here is part of the problem between you and I...you are dismissive and disrespectful and claim that it isn't because I am a woman but you don't treat the men here the same way"

When you were speaking in your first post, you said this: REMEMBER? "We are lavished with Love even when we are unLoveable...

Yes, CHrist died for the sins of the World (everyone). Then you said "Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person",,,,Was you comparing someone who died for a righteous person to Jesus? It certainly is not in scripture.

My response was that many a soldier and others have died for everyone. NOt for their sins but for Freedom and liberty. All with (at that time) with the help of Jesus for this Nation was at one time a Godly Nation but it is not anymore.

How does God lavish His Love on us in the here and now?

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

We are lavished by not having to face God's wrath...
Romans 5:9...Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!

you are mixing so many things together it is confusing you...first off what I was referring to was not your sexism or at best your insults of me personally, but your unwillingness to address what is being said.  That is what started this whole disagreement between us because you said I was wrong and I asked you to show me where I went wrong and you just kept preaching against women in leadership (but remember I never said they should be in leadership, I said the passage used about women keeping silent was misinterpreted)

Then, I post a study I did and it clearly states that GOD lavishes us with Love...iow's the focus is how God Love's us...to which I posted about how He loved us even while we were enemies.

You then tried to "correct" me with some passage about men dying for a good man...which was never part of the study because the topic is How GOD LOVES us NOT how man loves man...so you still haven't told us how you think the scripture I posted needs corrected.

And that is just the beginning....so please do explain yourself but make sure that you use an accurate reference to what really went down between us.

You said:"We are lavished with Love even when we are unLoveable...
Romans 5:6-8...You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
I have no idea how you think this addresses the OP but have at it, I know better than to challenge you with truth.

Whatever!

Blade
Your answer here is part of the problem between you and I...you are dismissive and disrespectful and claim that it isn't because I am a woman but you don't treat the men here the same way.

Now Lori,,,,in my first post, I was correcting a false claim you were speaking of. My response only addressed  the claim and did not stray. Yet you want to make this between the sexes. WHY ????

Regardless, I am not going to stop posting where I feel the truth needs to be corrected or at least my opinion needs to be known.

Blessing to you and yours Lori.

Blade
When you think that scripture is making a false claim then you have a bigger problem than even I realize and since my claim that you were "correcting" was scripture, your problem is much much deeper.

Blade
ARe you that opposed to scripture that you think I should only quote part of a verse?  Is that the problem you have here with what I found in my study?  You are objecting to me posting the whole verse?

How does God lavish His Love on us in the here and now?

We are lavished with salvation and forgiveness even while we are enemies....
Romans 5:8,10...But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us...For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

You said:"We are lavished with Love even when we are unLoveable...
Romans 5:6-8...You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. "

Blade
ARe you that opposed to scripture that you think I should only quote part of a verse?  Is that the problem you have here with what I found in my study?  You are objecting to me posting the whole verse?

don't be changing the subject, you know what I was speaking of...I wrote it out for you in the last post.

Blade
I am NOT changing the topic...you said some nonsense about how you were correcting me by posting a scripture about God's Love toward men and the passage you posted was about man's love for man...since the topic is God's Love toward us I can only assume you are trying to correct God...I am so confused by your response that I read the entire exchange to my husband and asked him what I was missing and he was really upset that you were trying to argue scripture and he also interpreted your nonsense as sexist or worse, personal.

I just reread your response and all you are doing is arguing with scripture...I posted the entire verse and you didn't like the end of the passage...shame on you.  Which I pointed out to you the first time around and you ignored.
