There are several different 'laws" listed in scripture...the law of sin and death...the Mosaic law...the ten commandments...and the law of Love...

There is a lot of discussion about we are no longer under the law.  The question of this thread is is the law abolished or fulfilled?  Prepare to address the difference and which law you are referring to when responding.

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” ~ Romans 8:5 1.

a. In Romans 6-8 we see a conforming of our minds to the mind of Christ – Rom 8:29

b.Romans 6 we learned we are dead to sin, the flesh wanting to do bad

c. Romans 7 we learned we are dead to the law, the flesh provoked to do good

d. Romans 8 we learn that we are dead to our flesh, and we live in the Spirit

e. “Spirit” is mentioned 20+ times in Romans 8 describing how we live and walk in Christ

f. Before you change course you must change your focus (change your mind)

What of the Flesh

a. Flesh is your body, what you do and are without God – Rom 7:18

b. It is not that flesh is bad deeds, and the Spirit good deeds. The flesh is your deeds.

c. What have we learned already? Rom 3:20, 3:28; Rom 4:1-5, and now… Rom 8:3

d. “the righteousness of the law” is not your own righteousness – Ro 3:21-22,31, Ga 2:21

e. “carnally minded is death” – whether it be to sin, or by the works of the law – Ro 8:6

f. Gal 3:2-3 contrasts the works of the law to your flesh making the effort.

g. Gal 5:19-22 – It is the “works” of the flesh, but the “fruit” of the Spirit

h. When you see flesh in the mirror you see your self – 1 Cor 1:29

i. You cannot please God in your flesh! – Rom 8:8

What of the Spirit

a. “ye are not in the flesh” – the Spirit of God dwells in you - Rom 8:9, 5:5; 1 Cor 3:16

b. “law of the Spirit of life in Christ” –This is how you received the gospel by faith

c. Spirit is that good thing God has given you – Rom 5:5, 6:23, Eph 1:13, 1 Cor 2:10-12

d. Things of the Spiri (Ro 8:5) our baptism, renewed mind, sealing, help in our infirmity.

e. Spiritual mind is life and peace – how do you get life and peace? Rom 5:1, 18, 6:4

f. You are in the Spirit if you are saved (live in the Spirit), you are led of the Spirit when you know the truth (walking after is being led by) – Ro 8:14-17

Christ In Us

a. Walking after the Spirit is letting Christ live in you – Ro 8:10, Gal 2:20

b. Christ in the flesh is dead, but is raised from the dead – 2 Cor 5:16-17, and so are you

c. The Spirit identifies and adopts you as sons of God – Ro 8:15

d. You reckon the glory that shall be revealed greater than the suffering now – Ro 8:18

e. We are saved by hope and not what we see – Ro 8:24

f. God’s purpose is the mystery of Christ in you, the hope of glory – Col 1:27, Rom 8:18

g. Nothing will change who you are in Christ, from the love of Christ – Ro 8:35-39

h. When we walk in the Spirit, live in Christ, we walk in love knowing what he has done.

As one must love thy neighbor as you LOVE yourself. What is this? Our choices in everything we do is based on our self-love and what benefits it will bring to us.

Knowing this, Loving thy neighbor is simple. We are desire them to have those benefits, creature comforts, that we would desire for our-selfs.

If we love the LORD with everything we have in our being and love our neighbors as we love ourselves, all the other commandments will fall into place.

We do indeed have a wise GOD looking over us.

Blade

I think we need to take this a bit further than you do here to actually Love...We provide ourselves with the best we can afford, shouldn't we do the same for our neighbor if we Love them....not just desire it for them?

I think it's a good study outline for living in the Holy Spirit, in Christ. What would we like to talk about in the outline?

PJ as per the OP question it looks like you are suggesting the law is one of flesh and spirit and even Christ in us....usually when talking about the law we refer to the law of sin and death, the Mosaic law, the 10 commandments, and the law of Love.

I think you are right, there is a law of the flesh and a law of the Spirit and a law of Christ in us...how do you see them lining up with the above laws....?

I was talking about the law of the spirit.

Romans 8:2-17 King James Version (KJV)

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

I refer to that as the law of sin and death but maybe your right maybe it should be referred to as the law of the Spirit
