And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, "What is this message? For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out."  Luke 4:36 (NASB)

it is amazing that through these verses of scripture the spirits in question knew who He was before all others knew. They have got to follow His commands. They have to have permission to enter a body. They cannot exist outside of a body or Hell. and they do not like the conditions of Hell.

all from a few verses.  Thank you Mark.

For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”  Romans 10:13-15 (ESV)

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 15:4-6 (ESV)

The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. John 17:22-23 (ESV)

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.  James 2:14-18  (ESV)

This scriptures are a big can of worms.....especially when trying to exclaim "faith and faith alone" can get one salvation.

Very true and I believe I posted this a year ago also.   I am still on the fence on this.   Can faith alone be salvation?  Can works alone give Salvation? Is it absolute you need faith and work?  These have been vexing for a few centuries and have caused division after division within Christianity.   The academic side of me can make arguments on all positions.   But do any of us really know what God wants from us to gain salvation?  That is where I get hung up and that just means opening more cans of worms

To me, the answer lies in the OT version of salvation...iow's salvation was still through faith and faith brought obedience...the difference in the NT is Christ.  But still faith that results in obedience...sorry for butting in on your discussion, I will disappear again, so that everyone is happy.

** Yes, one can,,,,we are told Faith and Faith alone is the only way to heaven. The scripture you were speaking of and the reason I jabbed at it a little, is that so many people use it push a "works" agenda or a combination agenda of both "Faith and Works"

In reality, when one is saved, they immediately receive the Holy Spirit and are made a new person who will search for the truth on His walk with GOD through a sanctification period toward a final righteousness.

The works this scripture speaks of is the works the Holy Spirit gives one to do. The type of work is chosen for you except being a Elder(pastor)!. How much work you do is up to you. know this, you will be judged for this work at the Bema Seat Judgments. What rewards are you going to gain or lose will depend on the type of word you do after you have been justified by the gift of God.
