13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.  1 Corinthians 10:13

Most of the times I use the ESV, did I get one wrong.  My typing does suck at times but I try very hard to not make an error on scriptures

I am a firm believer in the KJV but recognize other versions are somewhat accurate. The biggest problem is the Doubt these versions suggest as did the snake in the Garden of Eden: " Yea, hath God said" (Gen 3:1)

The way I look at these Bible including the ESV is: Would someone not knowing anything about the Bible and have not heard about the Bible, come away with the correct information about God and Jesus Christ. The answer I have found, is NO!.........

Example.... 1 TIm 3:15..(KJV)."And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

What do you come away with this verse...."That GOD was manifest in the flesh" or Jesus is GOD!

1 Tim 3:15..(ESV)..Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:
He[fn] was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated[fn] by the Spirit,[fn]
seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up in glory.

What would this person come away with this verse...WHO IS HE??????Jesus was manifest in the flesh......A doubt spread about His deity.   I see this a lot on these forums.

NO--GOD was manifest in the Flesh.....If you did not know Jesus was GOD then this scripture would lead one to believe that Jesus was just a man....Ask *****, as she is the same opinion that Jesus was/is  just a man not GOD.

Have removed the name but she is in the Theology Forums. She and many others are of the same mind mainly because of version teaching such as this.

We will have to agree to disagree on the KJV my friend.  It is by far the most eloquently written but it has never been the most accurate.  Myself, when I am doing research using the bible I prefer the Oxford, when I am quoting I prefer the ESV.  However, for pure accuracy in translation from the original texts of Latin and Greek and Aramaic is the NASB.

If I was just a true believer I would still be a nothing but .... pick you version.  I use several version in all my studies.

Of course, this is just me, and everybody else feelings are just as valid as I feel mine are for me.

I accept and like the ESV and the NASB - I was gifted a NIV Study Bible and it's nice but it did not open up to me like the King James. I trust the KJV over any other Bible period.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.   Ephesians 5:10-11  NASB

6:10   Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
6:11   Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, 2 to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. 3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us,...   Titus 3:1-5  NASB

thank you Mark...Each day the Negative information coming from the media (all) seems to be complete with very little good news...I then think of God's plan and compare it with what is happening. We are truly in "End Days" and ever closer to meeting our Lord in a cloud in the air......Amen

29 He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, 31 Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.  Isaiah 40:29-31 NASB

Lets got back to Isaiah again. Not sure why I like this scripture quote, but I do

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, And marked off the heavens by the span, And calculated the dust of the earth by the measure, And weighed the mountains in a balance And the hills in a pair of scales? 13 Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, Or as His counselor * has informed Him?  Isaiah 40: 12-13

I love scripture about creation, the earth and cosmos and the power of God.

. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,1 ga thorn was given me in the flesh, ha messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, j“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.  2 Corinthians 12:7-10  ESV
