The important question is not what we think these things mean, but what the apostles thought when the destruction of Jerusalem happened and then there was no worldwide judgement. 

since there is no 'program' with Israel of unfinished business to complete, it can't be that direction.  That would invalidate the suffering of that generation of Jesus and the apostles, and it would turn the letter to Hebrews inside out. 

The historian Lattourrette commented on this moment on p44 of Vol 1 and said that they simply continued with the mission work of the Gospel, ie, without any specific views like charts by experts in 2010. 

The one official interp of the time of unusual turmoil by Christ is that it was about his generation.  It was not because 'they killed Christ' in some crass sense as developed later in church history.  It is because the 'rebellion that desolates' (Dan 8:13) took over Israel in that generation and had its inevitable consequences. 

If Mt24A (before v29) has an inevitable sense to it, it is because he knew both of the key parts of Israel (zealots and upper classes) were not responding to his mission in a way that would steer Israel clear of conflict with Rome.  Mt24A is definitely 1st-century-Judea flavored in details.  Luke (which I believe is transcript of Paul) is quite clear that the coming destruction of Israel was to be viewed as a repeat of what took place in 586 BC, using lines from the prophets but inserting Roman military terms, in ch 13, 19.  In ch 23:28, the babies nursing as the crucifixion happened would see the destruction take place as adults, locking his meaning with a time stamp.

PJ, the time line is correct according to GOD's WORD... The GOG/Magog War will have to happen at least 3.5 years prior to the beginning signing of the covenant by the pseudo-Christ.  This would be in the GAP between Pre-Trib Rapture and the Beginning of Daniel's 70th week. This Gap, almost certainly has to happen for this reason and others.

The Pseudo Christ, we see in Rev 6:2 has to come to power among all nation and become strong enough to enforce a covenant with Israel. We know the other party is "Death and Hell" (i.e. as it is today, ISIS or other terror groups) and the strength of the United States Military has not stopped them dead in their tracks. NO, this is more sinister than that. The Pseudo CHrist will be someone these peoples that represent 'Death and Hell' have come to believe in and will follow. only in this way, could a peace between Israel and these groups be maintained. 

Even if we inserted a person as personable as 'OBAMA', it would still take some time (more than 3.5 years) and you will still have the seven years of the weapons( I believe, a technology statement of Nuclear Fuel). Russia and the other countries are not going to attack Israel with conventional weapons especially since they know that Israel would drop the big one on them immediately. The almost did just that during Desert Storm.
