Title: FORGIVENESS FOR ISRAEL
Post by: doug on May 21, 2020, 12:48:15 pm
Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

5:31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Here Peter was speaking of Christ's resurrection and how Christ has been exalted to God's right hand. It is Israel that receives salvation. He is admonishing them of their guilt for the crucifixion and seeking their repentance. There is no mention here of Gentiles, nor the salvation provided to all by the cross. Peter is preaching the gospel of the Circumcision, which is, Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; Jesus's resurrection assured his return to establish His kingdom on earth; the nation of Israel needed to repent.

Peter had already been told and shown the Holy Spirit would Baptise those who believed. At this time Paul was not yet here and there was still a chance that the Kingdom of Heaven would happen after all....Yet, it was not to be for in two more chapters, Stephen, the final rejection would be made.

Peter was one who would well-----The only time he took his foot out of his mouth was to put the other one in.   He was always in trouble and His mouth was his worst enemy.

Acts is a transitional Book from the Laws of Moses to the Grace of Jesus Christ for all.....Not for a few but for ALL who would believe. This includes Jews who believe in His Gospel. We are One in the BODY of Christ, Jew and Gentile as He tells us in Col 3:11 (KJV)

Col 3:11.."Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."
