Title: What is salvation?
Post by: guest24 on June 01, 2019, 10:12:44 am
I believe salvation is a change in relationship from enemy of God to child of God....Romans 5:10 and Ephesians 1:5 there are other passages but that is a couple of them

Because it is a change in relationship, I believe it is a process that starts at "birth" ...John 3:3.

we grow in Christ...Philippians 2:12

and we inherit if we persevere...Matthew 24:13

Obviously this is a summary but in is in contrast to what many believe salvation is...in fact, most it would seem think salvation is all about heaven and hell.  A few think it is about life and death....what do you believe salvation is and why?

We are saved from the consequences of sin, from both the overwhelming addiction to evil it causes in us and from the legal consequences of being under GOD's judgement against us for choosing to be sinful. The word salvation itself has no precise meaning but refers to the process of redemption and sanctification or any part of the process, sigh.

I believe it started for us at the moment HE chose us, elected us, to be HIS Bride, before the foundation of the world, before we sinned. After our election when we sinned and became evil, we lived in that sin until our birth when the redemption process started to convict us, even when we were still sinners, to culminate in our repentance.

We were never outside of HIS promise to be HIS heavenly Bride, never condemned Jn 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.   but we were sinful.

I believe that salvation was instant. I believe that it is immediate and it's not a "process". Of course, we go through the process of life but when we are chosen and accepted in the beloved it is secure, final and permanent. I believe that I have attained salvation already and I am seated in heavenly places with Christ even as I live on earth. I will "persevere" it's not even up for debate.

when i say I believe it is a process I do not mean that it is something that comes and goes, but rather that like life itself in the flesh, it is not just you are born and that is the end...in fact, scripture equates it to life...and life abundantly.

In a very dark time in my life when I was ready to give up and thinking that I had no choice but to give up, God told me that I did have a choice and to choose life. He also told me to trust and have faith in Him no matter what happens. That's what I did. That was my salvation. It seemed like an impossible situation but with God all things are possible.

The above is something that I felt I needed to say.

PJ...this might Help
“Salvation” literally means to deliver from chains or shackles by a payment or a ransom. Christ, of course, paid that ransom for us by shedding His blood on the Cross. Salvation is a “free gift” that God wants everyone in the world to have. All that is required of us is to believe in what Christ has already done on the Cross and commit our lives to Him. This simple act of faith is called “justification” and is what makes us “declared not guilty” before God. (Rom. 3:26; 4:5-6)1
