Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Paul preached the gospel of Christ, the power of God unto salvation.
The gospel of Christ is the revelation of the redemption found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God; the redemption found in his cross, according to the scriptures. What was not revealed in the scriptures was the mystery given Paul; that Jesus by his cross, would die for our sins and freely justify both Jew and Gentile. Isaiah 53 1 Corinthians 15:3 1 Corinthians 15:4 1 Corinthians 1:18
Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
The law and the prophets revealed that Christ would suffer, but did not reveal that by the cross both Jew and Gentile would be reconciled unto God and made one new man.
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
By the cross, God was reconciling both heaven and earth. Through Israel and the Davidic kingdom God will reconcile things in earth. Through the body of Christ God will reconcile the heavenly places. Revelation 20:4 Ephesians 2:6
We should conduct our lives to reflect the gospel of Christ. Philippians 1:27

gal 2:16.."Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

The gospel of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV) was a mystery hidden in the scriptures (“according to the scriptures”)/ the fact that Christ was dying for some men's sins (the “our” in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV which turns out to be those associated with Israel Acts 13:16, 13:26-Jews and Greeks). It is the hidden wisdom of God in a mystery hidden in plain sight in the OT until revealed/made manifest to and through the apostle Paul by revelation of Jesus Christ (Romans 16:25 KJV, 1 Corinthians 2:6-8 KJV, Galatians 1:11-12 KJV). It was not an all inclusion message (1Timothy 2:4-6 KJV) at the time of the writing of 1 Corinthians. Paul was sent to a very specific group of people at that time for the purpose of gathering that remnant out of Israel which God foreknew (Romans 11:1-6 KJV). We haven't even entered the picture of Paul's scope yet. That comes with the due time all men sending of Paul including Gentiles like us with the testifying of the gospel of the grace of God (first mentioned in Acts 20:24 KJV).

The mystery was not hidden in the O.T., it was hid in God.
Romans 9-11 was about the Gentiles who by faith became part of the remnant of Israel through the preaching of Jesus on earth and the twelve, and the current remnant as of the writing of Romans 11.
