Title: Chaplain's Office

Chaplain Mark Schmidt will help us here for our forums and we are so thankful. Chaplain Brian will also visit whenever he can.

Anybody that joins here would most definitely love Theology Forums. It seems hard to attract a person that registers and joins. Who will be the first? What a blessing they will get just knowing us.

We also have a Prayer Wall for prayers and prayer requests.

Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence

You ever feel alone, hurt or just need someone to comfort you with a hug or a kind word or shoulder, perhaps just a ear to listen to you vent?  This is what a chaplain does.
He loves you when you feel no one else does. He holds you when no one else will. He is there for you when you are weak and alone.
Scripture is his guidebook and God is His guidance.

Chaplain Brian, can you stop by the office and say something? How are you today brother?

How about some scripture:
Genesis 3:16-17 NIV
“Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt. And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

Chaplin Brian...Do believe you have the wrong verses for the scripture you have posted.

Gen 3:16-17.."To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” v17..To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life."

The verses you posted are for scripture "Exo 3:16"

Quite right, I meant to put Exodus but put Genesis instead.

Joshua 3:16
the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

Thank you Brian for posting here. I don't expect you to post here everyday but if you feel like it please post any time you want to. If we ever have prayer requests you will see them or I will tell you on TF brother, thank you so much Chaplain !!!

Scripture for the day

2 Thessalonians 3:16 English Standard Version (ESV)
Benediction
16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

Lets see if any discussion on this scripture  - feed back or comments always welcome

I hope to set up just strictly a scripture thread later today after work, unless PJ would like to add it and move my two posts to there for me  :-)

I started a new thread but I can't move individual posts, so you can repost them if you like in the new thread or begin anew tomorrow perhaps. Whatever you decide is fine.

Mark, I saw your comment about possibly taking on a new role with a church. Remember the Youtube channel I'm giving you as you can change the name of the channel to the church name or you can do whatever you want with the channel by broadcasting live etc. If you decide not to take the new role you can still do things with the channel and reach a lot of people.

Sorry so much is going on at home right now, responding has not happened timely.

I am still very interested in the channel, yes, but frankly it will not be possible till middle January, which is about when I thought you originally said.  So I have been working towards that.

No need to be sorry brother, it's all good. I'm right on track as I expected and I will have the channel finished in early January hopefully. If denied it takes 30 days to apply again so it could be February realistically. I wanted to let you know that you can change the name of the channel and do what you see fit with it.

Chaplain Mark, hello and thank you for being dependable and steadfast here sir. I love the scriptures you post and your posts in the threads as well. I want you to be Chaplain at Theology Forums in addition to this Forum if you are willing.

You can copy/paste the scriptures etc. on TF. Realistically, most members at TF don't access a Chaplain yet it would be good to have it known for the members. It's up to you Mark, just let me know and think about it. Thank you.

Yes it is OK Mark, you can start when you want. I will add Chaplain to your title as Brian has been gone for months now. Brian and Lori are working on their own ministry.

I appreciate the encouragement but it seems the writing in on the wall...Blade doesn't want me here, he has made that clear by condemning me for explaining why I asked for things not to be dealt with publicly, merely an obedience...Mr. E made it clear when he not only commanded me to never speak to him again, but brought it up twice with very nasty posts even though I ignored him...Tambora made it clear when I asked her a question and she not only refused to answer but after I said I would wait, she flew off the handle and included in her rant name calling, then to make things more obvious, when she lied about what happened and I corrected her in private as politely as I knew how, I was told to stop making nasty posts to her...PJ doesn't want me here because I confided in him why I am confused and he won't even try to explain to me how I am at fault if I say anything at all...how I am not allowed to correct lies spoken of me and what I believe, and how when I was told to ignore bad behavior and report it, I did and was banned for doing so...I simply can't figure out what purpose a discussion board has if I am not allowed to speak...that being said, I do know someone who wants me, and I am comfortable clinging to Him with all I am and all I ever hope to be...He (the Living God) and I have been on our own more than once...today He has granted me others who love and cherish me...so it will all be okay in the end, He is my strength, He is my comfort, He is my purpose and I need no other.

Chaplain Mark Schmidt :

I have encounter strongly expressed counter views to mine on many occasions both on this forum and one other.   More civil here than the other mind you.   The reactions have been both public and private.   I do understand that some have taken some of your posts as a personal front and I can say that I am sure you have probably taken some of their reaction or posts the same way.

For me, I am here for a discussion and civil debate and to learn.  If I do not agree or understand their viewpoint I personally ask them to explain and show me the way they got to their position.  Understanding their journey ofttimes helps me explain my own and how I came to my position.   I have had my theological disagreements with Blade and Mr. E, but not to the level you seem to have had based on what you have posted here.

I know this much, in the Chaplains thread, PJ has given me the control and if anyone resorts to name-calling or hostile exchanges I will go to PJ and ask them to be blocked from this thread till differences and attitude are worked out and adjusted.   This threat is for calm reflective expression of belief, faith, and harmony.  This is a quiet place to express your faith in.  Some debate will happen, and I expect that.

So if I tell you, Lori you are welcome to post and express a viewpoint, please do.  If others object to it they will do it politely and in a manner of just what I said peace harmony and faith, otherwise, I will notify them I am deleting their response and why or I will ask PJ to.

That's my position anyway, and unless PJ tells me I am out of line, that's where I will stand.

Mark, I really appreciate you and your comments here...I too believe it peaceful discussion and enjoy opinions that differ from mine so that I too can learn.  At this point however, I am not ready to trust what you have said here.  The more I tried to be peaceable and simply ask questions based on what I didn't understand the worse things got...maybe it is because of my health issues flaring today, or maybe my past, but right now I simply am unable to trust your words here...we will see what God does...but at this time, I simply will not risk upsetting anyone...that is the antithesis of what I am doing on the forums.

Oh, come on Mr. E.   I had just said I do not like that in the thread I control.  If you want to be sarcastic or confrontational, please take it someplace else.  I appreciate all your posts here on scriptures on faith and the nice discussions.   I am not privy to this ongoing battle and I do not want to be but please not in a thread on scriptures and faith.

I only entertained hers here as she did not name call or flame anyone other than a mild calling out.  I also replied to her to finish her thoughts following on in Blades statement to complete her thought.

Pleasee.

Mr E Quote:
Mark, -I enjoy our discussions too.  When folks mention me by name as both you and Lori have done here in this thread, it's for what exactly?  You'd rather talk about me, than to me?

Lori stated repeatedly that she didn't want to talk about the things she is now focused on.  For background- this behavior is exactly what she was banned for on the other site.  She can't ever let things go.  When she made up a blatant lie about me 'commanding her to never speak to her again' that invites comment if only to correct the record.  If you wanted to keep that out of your thread, that would have been an excellent time to mention that desire, but you didn't.  I hope my position isn't confusing.

If she doesn't want to talk about any of it, she shouldn't.  If she didn't, we wouldn't. But when she calls out myself, PJ, Blade and Tambora in a single post, maybe it's Lori you should speak to about this, rather than the folks she's throwing rocks at.

Aquinas' Proofs of God

Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) was one of the most brilliant theologians and philosophers of the Middle Ages and all of human history.  Aquinas famously believed that the existence of God could be proved by reason alone and he provided five arguments to this effect.  John Hamer of Toronto Centre Place will look at each of the five arguments alongside the counter-arguments and will also consider what Aquinas’ philosophy tells us about his conception of God.
