Title: Prayer for faith
Post by: guest24 on June 28, 2021, 01:18:50 pm
Okay, I am so tired of the false accusations, however, I will not be silenced when it comes to Christ.

So, today, I am looking into faith and I found two very interesting passages...Luke 17:5 where the apostles asked the Lord to increase their faith and Luke 22:32 where Jesus talks about praying that Peter's faith would not waiver....so the question, when was the last time we prayed for an increase in our faith or when asked what we could pray for, we asked for prayer for faith instead of assuming we have faith and that is enough?  Are we praying for one another here to increase in faith?  Or are we just focused on our own judgments and personal agendas?

I have recently prayed for my faith to be "stronger" as in "increased" and in the past I have prayed for my dad and his faith/belief. I need to do this more often.

When I am asked to pray for someone, especially healing, I pray that theirs and/or someone elses faith would exist or increase as a result of God's will being carried out...I just rarely hear others pray this way which makes me wonder how much stronger the "church" would be if we began praying for each others faith as per these two passages...just a question

When the disciples asked (demanded) that Jesus 'increase their faith,"  -- what was his response?  Did you consider what he said while you were thinking about this?  -just curious.

Interesting too that when Jesus prayed for Peter, he didn't pray that Peter's faith 'would increase.'  Rather he asked God to grant that Peter's faith wouldn't "cease" (fail).

Have you pondered that faith is something you have or don't have, and a little or a lot is not of any consequence.  You are either doing faith, or you have stopped doing faith. (acting in faith, or not).

He really seems to be saying that even the tiniest amount is all that is required.

Both views are interesting viewpoints.   Jesus never asked from what I can tell, and I am no expert on this, for anyone's faith to increase.  He asks it to be healed, for the person to be stronger in their faith, and like that.   Are we just dealing with semantics?

I think a prayer about another faith to God should be more in the line that they see their faith and feel their faith more clearly and that God's will be done for them.  But that is just how I have always preceded.

Prayers can always be a touchy subject as it is such a personal thing, however, the more we openly discuss our approach the more we can understand one and another views and thus we communicate better.  That's just my random thought.

It's about relationship.  It's a Dad saying to his kid-- "Trust me."  The kid either does or he doesn't.  The Father responds saying-- if you trusted me even a little.... even the tiniest amount-- you'd know I'm not going to let you die.

--but even more than that, we are not talking about an earthly Father with limited power and ability and wisdom.  We are talking about an all powerful Heavenly Father who's boundless and righteous and loving toward us.  A Father that is able to say 'Trust me'  and knowing who He is we don't have to fear even death, because He is able to raise us from the dead.

Yeah, though He slay me, still I will hope in Him. (Job 13)

I will respond to you but Mr. E was hateful and demanded I never speak to him again, so I am honoring his hate towards me.

I did a study on the prayer of Love...iow's how can we pray in Love.  As a result of that, what I came to realize is that a prayer of Love always centers around God being glorified.  So, back to the point of the topic, if God heals the person, how is God glorified?  Do others know that God is the one who healed?  Does the person healed know it was God?  Are they actually listening to God or are they just playing the game to get what they want?  Things like that.

When my health issues came into the foreground, I prayed in faith like everyone else who suffers like this that God would heal me...God then reminded me it was about Him and not me and so my prayer changed to, whatever you desire, just use it to glorify YOU.  Since then I have seen Him use it in a mighty way and so I endure until such time as HE, not me, chooses to free me from this fleshly bondage.  There are examples all through scripture of things people needed to endure because stripping away all suffering is NOT His earthly plan.  The question then becomes, can you see the God who Loves and His Love in the midst of the suffering and pain?  Thus a prayer that faith would increase through the thing we are asking prayer for.

Lori- you lied about me and now you have repeated the same lie.

"Mr. E was hateful and demanded I never speak to him again"

That's a lie.  That's a hateful lie.

And you are a liar.
