Title: MATTHEW 3:10
Post by: doug on January 20, 2021, 12:39:03 pm
Matthew 3:10 KJV - And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Israel had to be fruitful to enter the kingdom on earth, to be a priesthood and reign with Christ on earth.

Jesus spoke similar language to Israel:

Matthew 7:19-20 KJV - Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Israel, not us, would recognize a believer from an unbelieving Jew by their fruit.

Israel was to bear fruit to be disciples and enter the kingdom. They were to know who was not a true disciple by their fruit:
Jude 1:4 KJV - For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:12 KJV - These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

We know they did not bear that fruit and have been blinded "until the fullnss of the gentiles come in" (Rom 11:25)
