What is the bare minimum?
« on: March 29, 2019, 10:10:34 pm »
A quick question. When talking to a person (or people) about the flat earth, and they take a consistent stand of contradicting everything that is said or shown, what should be the bare minimum they should know about flat earth concepts for one to consider their time their discussion to be worthwhile?

I don't mean someone in the process of learning about the concepts, regardless of if they agree with them or not, but rather just the aggressive denier. I find myself constantly being bombarded by people who still think there are no responses for such simple areas like these, and refuse to consider otherwise.

1. Ships disappear over the horizon.
2. If you are in Chicago, you should be able to see the Rocky Mountains. (Or any variant thereof.)
3. Some Greek dude measuring shadows thousands of years ago proved a ball.
4. One can't navigate around a flat earth.
5. Earth has to be a ball because everything else is.

After confronting this numerous times over the last few months, I'm seriously considering giving people a quick test to see if they have even a rudimentary understanding of FE concepts (agree or not) before even engaging them, just to save my time and sanity.

Thoughts? Anything to add to the list?

Awesome brother, thank you for posting. I had the same problem and still do. I am coming to the conclusion that some people can "get it" and I mean the whole thing, the Bible, the deceptions of satan starting in the Garden or even before that against God's will, combined with the pseudoscience of Cosmology. The heliocentric model being introduced and widely challenged, proved wrong and disputed for decades before the Vatican and the Jesuits inserted into every education system in the world and in every church.

I try to tell people right away that everything we are taught about space, creation and the origins of man are only theories and they all deny God. That is science today and after much research I found the very roots of "science" are from the occult and go back to Babylon and the Tower of Babel. So I tell folks that they have never actually seen a real image of earth from space, Cosmology is pseudoscience, water never curves or bends and every single thing in science and technology work just as good or better in the flat earth. I'm talking satellites and aircraft/rockets etc.

I hope you post more and don't worry about saying the wrong thing or about what other people think of you here or at the other forum.

1. Ships disappear over the horizon. They do not, they can be brought back into view with a good camera or binoculars

2. If you are in Chicago, you should be able to see the Rocky Mountains. (Or any variant thereof.) The human eye can only see so far and perspective, line of sight, refraction, lensing and water in the atmosphere make seeing very long distances impossible. Besides, there ARE hills and mountains and valleys etc/

3. Some Greek dude measuring shadows thousands of years ago proved a ball. - I have a great 10 minute video showing how Eratosthenes was wrong and his calculations were based on a very close and small sun. Just like flat earth, plus his calculations would have worked the same in the flat earth.

4. One can't navigate around a flat earth. Nobody has ever completed a true circumnavigation, which would be going all the way around a BALL. Around the world simply means traveling in a circle around the North Pole, lol.

5. Earth has to be a ball because everything else is. We cannot see spheres in space. Every image we are shown of planets, galaxies, stars and deep space are CGI or Artists' Renderings.

Thanks for the response. The morning after I posted this, my hard drive failed. I wasn't really able to respond for a while. As it turns out, it was a welcome mental break from the FE arguments as I waited for my new SSD to arrive, replacing the old magnetic drive that failed on me.

Bummer. Glad you're back. How long have been researching FE? Are you fully convinced, or as much as you can be?

Only about 16 months for me. I'm no good with science though really. Are you Jacks Bratt?

Yes. I remember you. Why are you so quiet here? Are you still very active at CF? I would love to talk to you more.
